Well this will be interesting.

EDIT: I am of course not voting, in case you're wondering.

I voted yes. I'm not expecting it to be mind blowingly amazing or anything, but I reckon it'll be fine. Are only PS3 owners voting? Voting no if you don't own a PS3 seems a bit pointless.

I heard the pc version was pretty bad. I don't know how much they can improve it for a PSN release if the gameplay mechanics are flawed.

Damn .. I hadn't played it yet but that looks pretty damn dissapointing. I know I would've lost it and deleted the game after one of those bosses.

I have a very hard time any PS3-owning shooter fan wouldn't pay $10-20 to get the one shooter designed for the console and thereby showing that original 2D shooters can sell well on PSN. So I have to assume they're probably not PS3 owners, which means they've wasted their time voting. Unless most people who have a PS3 already bought the PC game and have been thoroughly disillusioned.

If you bought a PS3 for shmups .. you picked the wrong console. Sorry .. :S

Also, even if I did own a PS3, I doubt I would show support for a game that seems to play average at best.

We have spent almost a year redefining the game to feel, play and excite more like a console game. There's y-scrolling, almost all enemy patterns redesigned, more graphics like all the additional background images, ships flying by, small animations, bullet redesign, extra gameplay tweaks, trophies support, more music and additional sound design, oh and just so many bits and pieces that I have to say it really is a different experience. All that for 10 dollars, which is currently 7,92 Euros. For the first arcade like shmup for PS3.

Don't worry, you're all entitled to your opinions, but I hope that this is a success so that we can really kick *ss even more with future projects.

Have you even seen the PS3 trailer here?

Happy shooting.

This is what I was going to mention. In the trailer, enemies go down pretty quickly so I assume the "weapons are useless" is now history. Things definitely look way more polished.

The music is kickass as well.

What I would like to know is if, after this release, the PC users (who forked way more money for the game) will get a patch with similar balance/game mechanics improvements so that version won't become the black sheep of the family...

I'm pretty excited for this game, I'm glad it's finally coming out. The trailer looks good, I'm optimistic.

I thought shmups began with Stardust, Everyday Shooter, Dark Mist, Joint Strike and all those PSX downloads.

Anyway, if there's a demo I'll certainly check it out.

what PSX downloads? I tried to look this up but could not find a list of shmups. If they had Gradius Gaiden this would change everythig for me.

I believe it's Einhander and Rayforce, JP PSN only. I could be wrong, I don't have a PS3 or anything.

off the top of my head, psone shmups on the jp PSN store -

einhander
r-types
r-type delta
cotton
raiden
ray..force?

region free, so its pretty straightforward to buy these regardless of which console you have, especially with prepaid japanese psn cards now.

also, everyday shooter is a great game, not your standard boring arena shooter.

Yeah, it would avoid the whole "stepping stone" syndrome that happened with Last Hope.

Sorry to sound ignorant but what happened with "Last Hope" then? I thought there was only one DC version...
...And yes! Rebalancing patch AND price drop for Soldner-X PC version please :)

Hell yes.

Horis have been almost criminally neglected for years, I'm starving for new horis. And I confess to being a graphics whore: this looks good, very good (except the player's ship). Haven't heard the music yet but I have high hopes. A measily 8 euros? Sold.

Well, guys, the price is temporarily dropped to 30usd. Now if we can get confirmation about a rebalancing patch that reworks enemy formations and adjusts stuff (contrasts of backgrounds, etc.) that would be full house.

Sounds infectious. ;-) It looks a little like a Dropzone/MutantLama/Defender clone, much like Stardust is an Asteroids remake. I'd still be willing to say that SX is the first true horizontal weapon-upgrade coin-op arcade-style shmup specific to the PS3, most other games are emulations of PS1 titles or similar. I'll be getting this one though, looks like a lot of fun. :-)

Not sure if I'm 100% correct, but there was apparently two NeoGeo versions first. The NeoGeo cart version was like $700 .. ouch. Moar details here : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Last_Hope_(video_game)

So far, nothing has been updated in the US store. I just checked. None of the new releases are up yet. Please remain calm.
