How bad is the Saturn Virtua Stick (regular one)?
I know it is very basic, so I do not expect arcade quality at home, but really, how bad is it? I am not going to mod it or anything like that. I only have the default Saturn pad and was looking for something with a little more control. If it is a step up from the pad, I was thinking of picking one up. I have a Pelican Real Arcade Universal (PS2, XB, GC) Stick that gets the job done for me when I want to use a stick on those systems, so this gives you an idea of how picky I am (not too too picky, but if the basic Virtua Stick is a total turd, I might pass). Thanks for any input!
It's not a bad stick at all. I have the black US version. The joystick and buttons are very responsive for shooters. It's just that you aren't going to be getting arcade quality from it. There are no micro switches in it and comprised mostly of plastic. If that doesn't bother you, I'd go for it. I got mine complete in box brand new off eBay for $10.
I recently bought the deluxe Japanese arcade style Virtua Stick, so I probably won't be using mine much anymore.

Thanks (belated reply).
I finally picked one up off eBay very cheap after your confirmation and am really digging it. The stick holds up well under intense Garegga sessions and the like. Buttons are functional if nothing special. Find it hard to play Silvergun though - perhaps I am used to the buttons being closer together on the pad. Oh, it is whisper quiet too, which I like.
Conclusion - if anyone is looking for a more casual joystick that ain't too bad at all for the price, or even something for a second player if you have a better arcade stick (and only have a pad for player 2), I think you might like it too. Just my 2 cents.
