Mushihime-sama CD reprint
Mushihime-sama CD reprint
Just a little heads up for people who missed out the first time - Cave is doing a second run of the Mushihime-sama soundtrack and preorders start May 12 (Japan time of course.) The only way to preorder directly is to go to their cell-phone website, but online stores -might- stock the second pressing as well. No word on whether the figure will be reissued or not (my guess is no, however). I foolishly missed out the first time and I'm going to get it this time around...

Apparently, play-asia is going to stock the reprint of the Mushihime Sama OST. And it seems that the Reko figurine is still included.
I just placed my preorder and hope this is no hoax.

Doesn't the Reko figure come with the first batch when it gets its PS2 release anyway? -

I don't normally advocate this level of merchandising, but the Reko figure is really nicely made. Before mine arrived, I had no intention of keeping it (I only wanted the OST and was going to swap the figure on this very forum), but when it did arrive I fell in love with it.
Incidentally, there are some nice tracks on this CD. Overall, it isn't as consistent as the Ketsui OST, with several tracks being quite lazy and terribly generic, but there are a couple of gems that make it worth owning.

EMS is supposed to be faster. It normally isn't (at least not to the East Coast of the US). However, you can track your package with EMS shipping. EMS shipping also has a tendancy to be incredibly expensive.IlMrm wrote:I also pre-ordered this.
I've never order anything from HK or Japan before, and for this I choose EMS as my shipping option. Can anyone tell me the pros/cons between regular airmail, EMS, and courier? Thanks a lot.
Personally, I just always go with regular airmail and have never had any problems with that.
EMS is always trackable, and that's one of the reasons I really like it. You can't insure regular airmail from all Japanese post offices for some weird reason (my small local office can't, but the larger city office can) so I often use EMS when I send stuff home or to friends. EMS also comes with $250 of automatic insurance and additional insurance is cheap.Kiken wrote:IlMrm wrote:

If you can get trackable, insured airmail then that's fine too. Just make sure beforehand.

Wow, so I guess Rob was right about the type of people making Mushi popular.greg wrote:http://esprade.hp.infoseek.co.jp/reco.htmIlMrm wrote:And yes Reko is still nopan.
Wow, you aren't kidding! Just for the record, I was planning on getting this figure before I knew about this.
Seeeeeeeexxxxxhay!

Not really. As others have mentioned, the game itself doesn't have any of such "fan service." It's no different than any other character-driven Cave shmup. I played this game quite a bit on my trip to Japan a few weeks ago, and I loved it. Gameplay is great, and as someone else mentioned, it has that Nausicaa ambience to it... it's about an insect princess, afterall. I usually enjoy character-driven shmups like ESPRade, Gunbird, Shikigami no Shiro, etc. more than spaceship/plane-oriented shmups. If you haven't played it, just reserve your judgement about the game (and those who enjoy it, too).

The game itself doesn't really show off Reko in that way, but the signboard for the game does, the posters do, their website does, the CD cover does, the figure does... and Mushi-Poko sama is FULL of fanservice. Bouncy bouncy.
They might as well use her to attract players... extra money is always good.

You don't think the "nopan figurine" of the OST (and possibly L.E. game) is driving up sales of these items and awareness of Mushi? I'm not saying it's a substantial driving force, but in the least it's having an impact and some people might be drawn to it by unconscious (or conscious), let's say desires.greg wrote:Not really. God, I hope the LE figure isn't nopan. Reko's supposed to be a 3-year old in that. I draw the line at oogling young-looking girls who are obviously old enough to have breast implants.Nemo wrote: You don't think the "nopan figurine" of the OST (and possibly L.E. game)
