99 Lives Code for Thunder Force 2

Ok, please tell me that somebody here on the world wide web still remembers that old 99 lives code for Thunder Force II where you had to go into the secret options menu and play certain sound effects to enable the code. Somebody remembers this code right? I searched Google and nearly every search engine in existence for this code and all most sites have is the simple secret options menu code where the most lives you can enable is 5. I think I got this code from the publication Electronic Gaming Monthly roughly 15 years ago. Believe me I know this code exists because I used to use it all the time when I used to play the game back in it's heyday. Anyways, anyone familiar with this code?
