shock troopers MVS default settings

Post by jonny5 »

when i run it in mame it gives you one life per credit

but on my actual cart it gives you 3, and i dont see any settings in the test menu for changing this

so which is default?

and if its supposed to be 1 life per credit by default, how do i change it on my cart?

I think it is two different ROM sets, but I haven't been able to get set 2 working in MAME.

My MVS cart also gives 3 lives, and personally I prefer this one. I don't know if it is possible to change on the cart.

cool....thanks geoff.....i will try both roms on mame( i have a cab @ work i mame'd :D ) and see if there is a difference.....

im not too concerned....i just want to be playing it on defaults.....and i was confused by the different amount of lives in mame

i will post my findings in a few

EDIT:

just checked both romsets (set2 works in mame .128) and set 1 does not have a setting to change the number of lives.....it defaults at 1 life per credit

set 2 has an option to change the number of lives under the soft dip settings for the cart in the test menu, and defaults at 3 lives per credit

so it looks like we both have set 2 carts :D

mystery solved.....

There are two Version of this game. One with a separate lifebar for each character in Team Mode and one with only one but bigger lifebar for the whole team. The later one also has an RPG-like Medal System.

Sorry, I don't use mame. I have the version with seperate lifebars as MVS Cart and I can set the lives from 1 to 9.
