yup you just plug it in between the PCB and your supergun, easy as pie.

Cool I will definitely get this system 16 adaptor after my custom made supergun is built by my friend Zeon. :D

I know that I want to get Alien Syndrome, Altered Beast, Cotton, Golden Axe, Shinobi and Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair. I don't really know what other system 16 game pcbs that were made. :)

Warning-- some system 16 games have suicide batteries that make the sound fail. I think it's really hard to fix, too. it happened to my golden axe. So be very careful not to collect those versions (I think most have a non-suicide version). Google it.

Thanks I will definitely look for non-suicide versions of the boards. :)

Whenever system16.com is down then so is MAWS (http://www.mameworld.net/maws/) as they both using the same cheap/free hosting company - however, of late whenever MAWS has been up system16.com has still been down. This is because the owner of system16.com hasn't renewed his domain name (he did the same this time last year).

Once MAWS is back up then you should be able to access system16.com again, BUT only by editing some settings on your PC, as follows:

Edit your HOSTS file and add the following:

216.144.214.105 system16.com
216.144.214.105 www.system16.com

But remember, this will only work once you find that MAWS is working.

Hopefully the owner of system16.com will renew his domain name soon, so making it unnecessary to edit your HOSTS file.

Just replace the cpu with a regular 68000 and reburn the rom set with the hacked version and you are all set.

Early System 16 boards used a protected Z80 CPU, when the battery dies the sound dies.

Later System 16 boards use a protected 68000 CPU, when the battery dies the game dies. The fun part is that the game might seem to work. Only way to determine if all is OK is to run the ROM check in the system menu.

There is no need to use the hacks floating around, in fact a lot of them do NOT work properly. What you need to do is go to this site and your problems will be solved:

I second the recommendation for segaresurrection.com - the guy who runs it is very helpful and the small price you pay to get a valuable game up and running is a bargain.
