Installing programs in another language

Post by zap »

So, I've got Japanese Vista and a copy of Autodesk Maya. Maya is an English version, but after I've installed it, everything is in Japanese. And I can't seem to be able to select language (I want it in English). This applies for some other programs I've installed to.

How can I fix this? Is applocale a solution?

programs like that will install in the language of the operating system.....

perhaps try switching the system to run in english in the regional settings and then install it...it will install in english

then change back to japanese regional settings

ive had to do this with several programs myself when i was running my system in japanese...mind you it was XP...no experience with vista and region/non-unicode settings

I think jonny5 has it right. I had this problem when installing my video drivers on an OEM Chinese OS.

Change your system locale and the program should install in the language of your locale.

Ok thanks, that helped. Actually first only the installer changed to English, but the second try I could select if I wanted Japanese support or not.
