In today's final Nascar Sprint Cup series (NSCS), two time consecutive winner Jimmie Johnson is up for his 3rd possible consecutive Chase for the Cup series winner...he would be the only Nascar driver to tie up with Cale Yarbough on three consecutive wins back-to-back. Mr. Johnson only needs to place 34th or better to cinch the overall championship (or fall back to 42nd or 43rd place due to some random mechanical or engine failure) and Carl Edwards would need to come in first place to win his very first Sprint Cup championship. Such an interesting predicament to be in, hmmm?
Who do you think is gonna win? Either it's Johnson or Edwards that's gonna come out on top, regardless who wins anyways. Make those ever so important pit stops short and consistant as possible. I've seen such leading Nascar drivers on their final lap only to run out of gas...not much one can do in that given situation. It's how you roll the dice and make that bet can "make or break it" in the eventual conclusion at the finish line. ^_~
Everytime Hendrick Motorsports team wins a Nascar race, Mr. Hendrick personally gives out monetary bonuses to all his employees. Very nice incentive to try to win week-in & week-out today's multi-million dollar extraganza racing series. Pity that Jeff Gordon is not doing so well for the 2008 Nascar season. There's always next year's Nascar racing season to start thinking about.

I used to watch a lot of NASCAR (I've only been to two races at Phoenix back around 1991-1992 or so though) but I haven't paid much attention to it recently. It seems to be more marketing than racing these days. Formula 1 seems to be the preferred discipline around here now, although I also enjoy American Le Mans Series (been to a couple of races of that recently as well) I've always been a fan of the Roush drivers (Mark Martin in particular,) although it seems that you can't win a championship in anything but a Chevy these days...

After watching the thrilling conclusion of this year's 2008 Nascar Sprint series, Chase for the Cup, it turned out that Carl Edwards did end up winning the final race of the season but still did not win his first Sprint Cup championship...this is his third time of placing 2nd overall in the Sprint Cup series. So close and yet, no cigar. The first Nascar driver to congratulate Jimmie Johnson was none than Edwards himself.
Yeah, Jimmie Johnson made history last night becoming the 2nd guy to win three consecutive Nascar championships back to back with Cale Yarbough (who was the first ever Nascar driver to pull that particular feat off back in 1978). Even Jeff Gordon expressed his joy for his former teammate but it seemed that he was a bit bummed out by not doing as well for the entire 2008 Nascar racing season. That's part of racing...to exprience the ups and downs of any motorsports in particular.
Mr. Rick Hendrick, owner and CEO of Hendrick Motorsports organization, has won his 8th Nascar championship...and that is saying something. It's been reported that an astounding 500 people comprise of that prestigious racing organization. It sure must be nice to get a big & fat bonus paycheck if either Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson or Dale Earnhardt Jr. races to victory lane on any given week. ^_~
Will Jimmie Johnson for a new record of 4 consecutive championships? This feat has never been done before in the 60 years that Nascar has been around. Jimmie Johnson is the man of the hour. ^_~
Sprint awarded $7,000,000+ USD to Johnson for winning his 3rd Nascar championship after the conclusion of the final race for the season...not a bad paycheck right there.
