Do you have Twitter?

Here's mine:
http://twitter.com/sparkster86

Twitter is like facebook for people with ADD. Entries are usual short and to the point.

Is there a social network with consolidates all your social networks into a single social network?

Does anyone actually waste valuable time of their lives reading/writing those mental defecations, time that could otherwise be spent playing quality video games, reading books, watching videos, listening to music, going outside and meeting real people?

Because posting at shmups.com is right up there with composing a symphony or climbing Mt. Everest or curing cancer.

Twitter is just another channel for communication. People who post mindless drivel to Twitter would probably do so through some other medium if Twitter didn't exist.

I know a lot of local IT professionals use it to stay in touch and organize events (not me, though).

I used to bash Twitter, facebook, and similar social apps too...that is until I got an iphone. Now being able to keep in touch with friends on the go makes much more sense than sitting behind a computer. Especially since I just changed jobs, and don't physically see half the friends I used to. I also see it used more in a corporate work context, for distributed teams, and for pimping your resume/skills when between jobs.

Social networking services are becoming increasingly easy to access via mobile technology now:

- blogs and photo-hosting sites like Flickr can be posted to via mobile email;
- many forums and network sites like Facebook are WAP-enabled which makes it faster to mobile browse (no downloading of 900kb pages - shame shmupsforum isn't WAP enabled);
- some phones have powerful IM applications that allow you to access MSN, ICQ etc on the go using 3G and WiFi.

I was referring to facebook pages / blogs. As far as my posts are concerned, obviously you do read them.

Because at this moment in time, I have nothing of any importance to do.

About my posts, it's like what German physicist / mathematician / writer Georg Christoph Lichtenberg said about books: "A book is like a mirror; if an ape peers into it, you can not expect an apostle to peer out."

Don't be dissing Social Networking sites man. They're the only way I keep track of friends from High School. (I graduated.) Getting replies from people that you were friends long ago is good times.

not dissing you personally, but I'd rather not have a high school reunion every time I sit at my computer.

To each his own of course, but I'm sick of seeing people around town who I was never friends with in the first place, yet they ask me if I'm on Facebook or MySpace like we should be best internet buddies.
