just found out about this doujin shmup thanks to nicovideo and since the game looks totally insane and VERY HARD i thought about showing it here...

Mind you, this game works only under applocale (I have japanese works and it didn't work here so... didn't try applocale yet)

I like Kenshin, but this is just....wrong. The use of the English dub voices in a Japanese doujin seems odd, that it does.

The English clips are actually a Japanese meme. Apparently the elevens thought the English version of "Futai no Kiwami" (?) was hilarious in the same way Americans think Engrish is hilarious. There's actually a ton of videos for this meme floating around.

I'm not even sure if it's really Pedobear. It's more likely Kuma-san, who Pedobear was originally parodying.

About Diadra Empty: well, the bear is called "Kuma" (which means "Bear") but the pose, the jokes regarding him put some doubts... Maybe he's something in between the two poles?

I admit, I wasn't completely sure, so I went and looked it up. Turns out 2chan's Kuma was a perv too. Hooray for Google!

For some reason I kind of like the yukkuri meme. They can be cute at times but then they can also look hideous. Kind of like Higurashi.

Has anyone got a working link for Kiwami Shooting download cos the one in the OP is dead now and after all that DoTonPachi stuff I'm kinda keen to give this a whirl

So is there a more specific term than kusoge for games which are disturbingly insane, rather than just a bit crap and silly (whether intentionally or not)?
I guess it started with Cho Aniki, but what other properly bizarre and surreal shmups are there- we're not talking "a bit quirky" here but rather "this makes me feel mentally ill" kinda games?

Well not a shmup but Zero Invasion (a Doom mod) had a stage where for bosses you verse a giant King Leonidas.

I liked the music, and some of the look. But, I'm not going to play this.. I'm glad someone made it, it was a cool video to watch, I'm moving along.

I do like the ideal of playing games as a way to experience mental illness. I've played some far out stuff that way. Space Giraffe still does it the best.
