Trigger Heart is pretty original both in theme and gameplay; it's also pretty fun. One of the best shmup on the DC.

Karous Is very similar to Radirgy, with the shield and with some pretty damn strict memorization in order to score, not really my cup of tea.

As fot Last hope well, it's a very hard game to understand

Last Hope is a cool game, 1000 times better than Pulstar.

If you wanna see my opinion about Triggerheart Exelica, check my review.

last 2 games released for dreamcast were Karous and Triggerheart. Karous is ok, but Triggerheart is absolutely great. You just have to survive any possible aversions to the color pink. Other than that Triggerheart is quickly becoming my favorite game.

I can't say enough good things about Triggerheart Exelica. It's one of my favorite games.

Haven't played the other two yet.
This is not similation. Get ready to destoroy the enemy. Target for the weak points of f**kin' machine. Do your best you have ever done.

i though last hope was a pretty mediocre r-type clone, and pulstar was an excellent and pretty looking clone. (i did like blazing star a bit more though).

On the other hand the same makers of Last Hope have a new shmup scheduled to be released this year. It's called DUX, it's 27 bucks or so, plus shipping on play-asia right now. here's a video:

looks light another pretty r-type clone, but the gameplay seems innovative. big ship though....pulstar definately was an influence. I'm waiting to see the reviews.

oh...and THE is awesome, definatly one of my favorites. read the reviews or better yet get an ISO and preview it.

That's either one hell of an elaborate troll, or you're really are that backward.

Is the ps2 ver. of Triggerheart out yet? if so anyone know how it compares or is it just a straight port?

sorry for the double post but...

i feel i must comment on sturmvogel's review, or rather this sentence:
A thing that i hate is the countdown before unpausing the game, just like in the PS2 port of ESP Galuda, i think that's the stupidest and annoying feature that a game could have.
surely this is a most innovative thing esp if you get an annoying untimely interuption it allows you to focus again before launching yourself back into the game! awesome idea if you ask me

Me too. I don't think its perfect, not by a long shot...but it was fun and a good effort for NeoDev.

Under Defeat - Outstanding
Chaos Field - Ok.
Trizeal - um, i dunno...aa little below average
Karous - looks cool, but I don't have it.
Border Down - GET IT.

Border Down is a no brainer. It's a favourite of mine. As for Karous, it's pretty good, but Radirgy's ultimately more fun to play because it's a bit more colorful and "alive". Last Hope is probably the last one I hope to play again in the bunch.

Alchemist hasn't posted a release date more specific than "this winter" so, hopefully it'll be out no later than Feb. 2009.

Well not 'recent' per se but Psyvariar 2 is freaking amazing and it's also available for the original Xbox if I'm not wrong. Buzzing, piano-driven punchi punchi OST of the good kind and quite challenging. Can't go wrong with this one.

Seconding Under Defeat and Border Down: they are equally amazing. Zero Gunner 2 looks pretty and great too, although I didn't have much time to play this one.
