I'm thinking about canceling my pre-order for the DS port, because I plan on getting a 360, but when I don't know. I would assume that both ports will be the same, in terms of quality.

Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Yeah it's an XBLA game. The one screenshot I saw of it when it was announced appeared to be going through some upscaled filter. If they don't have an option to switch it into it's original format, I won't be buying it.

No thanks. The DS D-pad is far superior to the 360's, and the game was designed for a small screen originally anyway. It's either gonna get upscaled and look hilarious or need to be reworked extensively. They should have gone with the PSP if they were going to do another port.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

I wish there'd be something like this for Contra 4, even if it had d-pad or upscaling problems. HATE the gap.

There appears to be a decent cellphone port of the game; one is featured on IGN. Sure, keypad...but there's no gap!

That said, there is also a really really REALLY shit C4 port out there for BREW phones like the Verizon Razer v3m, so buyer beware.

I'd agree that the DS's d-pad is better, but not by all that much. I've not had such great luck with it, especially when playing stuff like the Rockman Zero series.

One of the news sites I read about this on (sorry, forget which one) claimed that the XBLA releases would have "improved visuals," but I'm not sure if that's correct or not. At any rate, I'd be happy to play it on a bigger screen as well.

nope.... you should have read plays write up on it. they recycled the same old sprites and then even scaled them onto the DS's screen. sounds like a turd on visuals display.... even on DS. This is all based on that article though, so unless they lied.

I read it was going to get HD graphics. But I doubt it.

The NEXT Metal Slug will be remade in HD just like the KOF series. There's an interview somewhere on IGN confirming this.

I don't see the gap as being an issue with MS 7, as all the action will be single screen, unlike Contra 4.

I sure hope these screenshots on IGN are just blown-up images of the DS version. We better NOT be getting a 256x192 game upscaled to 720p. Hopefully SNK has some higher resolution versions of the DS MS7's art assets on hand.

Not having 2 player would suck. These images show only 1 player's score, and look upscaled and filtered rather terribly. SNK needs to learn to use bitmap prescaling on their ports.
