batrider secrets

I was playing batrider just now (mame shame on me!) and noticed somethign strange...I had random characters selection adn when I killed the 1st boss, I died and got the bat character. I used a bomb just when the boss got killed and I stayed in bombing whenever I shot. The character was blinkign red all the time as well and I was shooting the bomber weapon for the whole of stage 2 till I died at the boss...also got a formation with the options as well.

Is this a secret or just the character?

Sound like a bug to me, Batrider has a TON of secrets in it but this isn´t one of them
