donpachi and dodonpachi my experiences.

Post by gennss »

I got both games last month and have been playing them. Donpachi was ok, but felt a little slow to me i guess because it doesn't get manic off the bat. Dodonpachi however immediately hooked me with the insanity that occurred. At first i was so anxious i kept trying to do the mars matrix absorb when i was overwhelmed!

Fun games, i'm glad i got them both. So thanks to everyone who talked bout it

Indeed, I smelled like grape for months. I kept yelling stop but they just kept shouting in Japanese and rubbing grape jam on my face.
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

I found that out in Dangun Feveron. Not only did they send the jam after me, but also the boogie, the fever, the shimmy, the shuffle and the funk all got down on me.

Let me tell you that I felt the full extent of the jam. :(

On Topic: Glad you enjoyed the games. :)

keep your finger on the trigger, rookie!
actually, don't. You'll probably drop your chain.

You've gotta keep your finger on the trigger to chain in DonPachi...

tap A, tap A, tap A

(or is that Dodonpachi onward? Not played either of them in a while)

You can keep your chain with either shot or laser, but large enemies like bosses will only keep your chain by holding the trigger (laser). It´s like that in all DDP games.

Congrats, gennss. You just go you money's worth with DDP. It's a no brainer that it is easily one of the top three greatest manic shmups ever created. Beware the hornet!

I feel the same way about DP as you do. I played DDP before DP, and I found it nearly impossible to enjoy after molesting DDP for months. But then again, I have the Saturn version of DP. :P I had the PS version at one time, but I couldn't get it to play right on my US console.

I was talking about chaining the stages, not the bosses, then I remembered the "rookie" quote comes on before the boss appears, and I felt stupid
