I want to be able to store an html page to my hard drive and have the file include the original URL where the page came from.

For instance: If I were to save this very page, I'd like the file to somehow include "http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?p=399719"

PS.
I know I can include the URL (for instance at the top) when printing a website (page setup).

Maybe use a PDF printer and save the webpage that way?

You could manually copy/paste the URL somewhere into the saved HTML file as a HTML comment, enclosed in <!-- (url) -->

Thanks for the ideas. Since I need to do it for a whole bunch of pages, I'd probably simply print them as file. Still, I'd prefer to keep the original HTML and somehow store the URL along with it. Strange that there doesn't seem to be any utility or maybe firefox plugin for this.

Oh scrap!

Also, what about FTP backups? I think SmartFTP has an option to do that...er...sorta.

I use HTTrack Website Copier to archive web sites. Easy, fast and customizable; able to grab any specified linked files such as images, movies or pdf documents. When you download a page, you can either enter a name or the URL as the descriptor. It can also generate a html master file with links from all the stuffs you downloaded.
