Great flick, I hate Tom Cruise alot less now.
He does a mean Joe Pantoliano like in Midnight Run with the swearing and all.
"Take one big step back and litteraly fuck your own face"
wow, that was funny.

Tropic Thunder is a very confused film. It's never sure if it wants to be all-out comedy, or if it wants to get serious and have some kind of message. In effect, most of the time it treads really boring grounds somewhere in between. Additionally, there is almost no jokes in the movie. Downey Jr's character is funny because he looks and acts like a black guy, and he's not a black guy--Tom Cruise's character is funny because he's fat, bald, constantly screaming, and Tom Cruise--etc, etc. Inherently, these things are good for a few cheap laughs, and the actors are good enough that their single-joke-existence never quite seems monotonous, but it doesn't carry the film, either.

loved it.....and it didnt need jokes....
i mean...you dont have 'jokes' really in will ferrel films, for example....they just say really silly shit and it makes you laugh.....thats funny to me....same deal here......
for a comedy i found this film quite good....if you go into it expecting anything more you will be disappointed....
and yes....tom cruise was hilarious.....after this performance i promptly went down to the local church of scientology and signed up for some courses and im well on my way to being OT....
....
shit....he made me laugh just by his dancing....hilarious.....

I heard that this is good, plus I'm a Downey Jr fan and have a respect for Cruise's skills. (EDIT:- Not his Cult).
I'll be checking this thread for further feedback.

Well, that's what I liked about the film, the no-structure part. There are not alot of jokes in the movie, but the entire movie is a joke.Necronopticous wrote:Tropic Thunder is a very confused film. And it's always all out comedy. There is no message anywhere to be found. Jack Black in slo-mo screaming "mmyy aassss".
You sound like you're writting reviews for MSN.
Those guys just moving in the woods is funny enough.
The student-teenager kid was called Radar by Jack Black.
OK, you didn't like it. Fair enough. How's Pinapple Express?
