XRGB2 causes green stripes with PS2 games
My XRGB2 is causing green horizontal stripes when I turn on v_line. This happen mostly during FMV sequences in Final Fantasy XII but apparent in normal gameplay such as Mushihimesama. If I turn off v_line the green stripes goes away, but the picture doesn't look as good unless v_line is turned on. Anyone have the same problem and know how to fix this? Also in the menu display there's AFC and DTC_TYP, what do these options do?

Yeah, the v_line creates fake scanlines. I tried the XRGB2 on my friend's CRT and voila, the green stripes are gone and Mushi and FFXII looks awesome w/ fake scanlines. Seems like the problem only occur on my LCD, it's a Samsung SyncMaster 953BW. A real shame. On the bright side, Dodonpachi DOJ and Espgaluda looks fine on my LCD even with fake scanlines.Dave_K. wrote:Is v_line the virtual scanlines? I don't want to dig out my xrgb2 to see.
The only commonality with Mushi and FFX cutscenes is probably an interlaced video signal. So something may be wrong with the deinterlacer.

Made some progress. I got rid of the green stripes by turning off the RTA option on my Samsung monitor, but when I did that it caused very light grey horizontal/vertical stripes to appear. It didn't look to bad but they're very obvious. I tried changing all the setting on the monitor and nothing helped. I went back to the XGB2 options and realized when I set the DTC_TYP to PS the grey lines thined out so they're barely noticable now. The results aren't as good as XRGB2 + CRT but on a LCD this is better than I can hope for.

To me, upscaning sprites to 31khz without scanlines just don't look the same (or as indented by the graphic artists). So being able to play at 31khz, a mode which has better geometry and response on my tri-sync monitor, while maintaining the original scanline look of the sprites is the best of both worlds. Also I would not even think of using an LCD without something like this since the device doesn't natively use scanelines even at lowres.rolins wrote:It just looks better with fake scanlines. Without it almost every game through the XRGB2 would just look fuzzy.8 1/2 wrote:This question has bugged me for a while: Why would you want fake scanlines? I just don't get it.
