Easiest 1CC?

Post by Negligente »

Hey guys, 1st post here. I started played shmups pretty heavily a few months ago, and I'm really digging them quite a bit. However, I'm really itching to get my first 1cc of any sort. What do you guys recommend would be good titles to tackle that are on the easier end? (I primarily have access to older titles. Emulation and PC only.)

If you want an easy 1CC, you're looking for doujins. Assuming you don't count easiest difficulty settings, Blue Wish Resurrection Plus and some of the Touhou games on normal mode will do the thing.

I've gotten sorta close with a few of the touhou, but I haven't seriously tried Blue Wish. I'll give it a shot.

actually 80% of the doujin shooter for PC can be looped with the first credit.
If you dont get bothered by downloading (no matter if legal or not) you should give it a try.
And BWR(+) is a great game to start with

60-odd people 1CC'd Darius Gaiden in STGT'07, so that's a pretty easy one.

Shienryu Explosion (Steel Dragon Evolution) is so easy even I managed it.

Aha, I just figured out why I never played BWR. It was trying to run at 100s of FPS. Quite difficult that way. I fixed it though and got to the end of the 3rd level on my first try. So I could see it being a possiblity.

Also, that first boss on Darius Gaiden. The fish? When it broke into segments in the background I was like "oh sh..." thinking it was going to attack with a bunch of smaller parts, but then it blew up. I laughed pretty hard.

Battle Bakraid. I think everyone on this forum 1cc'd it (including me, and that's saying something).

Doesn't really help you since it's for PS2 or arcade only, but I'm working on my first 1cc right now with ESPgaluda.

While some may consider it easy i feel it is still an accomplishment (personally) and it is a Cave game after all.

I also am hungry for my first 1cc. I've been heavily into shooters for about 6-8 months. I played and liked a lot of them ever since I was a kid but never as much as I do now. I haven't put much time into the doujins mentioned here because I want my first 1cc to be an arcade game and something I really enjoy.

I'm getting closer to my goal. I can now get to the Stage 4 boss pretty consistently and I'm really close to getting the second extend (14,000,000) so that should really help.

ESP.Ra.De from Cave also deserves a mention. Pretty fun game, scoring is a bit off since you have to milk the bosses for ages, but if you aim for a 1cc than that is not too hard.

I would also highly recommend to not pick a game that´s boring. Most shmups that are really easy tend to be a lot less stimulating than harder ones. My first consideration wouldn´t be the difficulty but whether or not a game is GOOD. I know some people have proper 1cc lists, but I´d rather not play a shitty game just because it´s an easy 1cc trophy. You´ll gradually progress in harder games as you keep playing anyways. It´s like in weight training - if you pick too light weights you´re not going anywhere

I also think that DoDonpachi (MAME again) has a very broad difficulty curve. It´s as much fun to play for an beginner as for a veteran. Fun for the whole family! (Aside from the dick laser.)

ESPRa.De. on the easiest 1CC list? Sorry, not happening. Even if the game is relatively easy, the final boss battle sure isn't.

Psyvariar Revision is one of those games you can 1CC without even trying, if the True Last Boss isn't a requirement for it to count as a real 1CC.
My 1CCs so I can find the list easier myself
<Despatche> you've been a thorn in the shmups community since the beginning, you're largely responsible for the horrible face of modern speedrunning

In the Hunt. Took me about 2 weeks of practice. I have the cab, but still, it's not a hard game compared to many, and I'm usually terrible at yoko (horizontal) shooters.

Dodonpachi if you're not playing for score. 2 months of practice has me getting to level 4 quite easily...then it goes downhill for me...

I don't have a PS2 or the PCB but I've played Mushihimesama a little bit and it seems even easier than DDP.

I find Ra.De to be much harder than both, don't think it should be on an easy 1cc list.

I've only mentioned games I actually enjoy playing. Just playing one i don't really enjoy because it's an easy 1cc is an exercise in boredom.

If you don't 1cc Shienryu on your first attempt or at least get to the final stage, you should be ashamed.

I'm sure you mean Shienryu Explosion and not Shienryu. The latter game is challenging toward the end-- I haven't finished it yet.

Harmful Park, Zanac Neo, and Shienryu Explosion are the easiest games I've played, but you'll have to import them along with a Jap PS2.

I don't find Gradius or Darius Gaiden easy, but horis are difficult for me in general.

Thunder Force III. Even on Mania, that game's a breeze.

That's only because nearly everyone used very fast autofire. If you use the normal autofire speed, it's quite a different story.

I've only played that game once, I came pretty close to 1CCing it, and this was way before I started seriously playing shooters and still haven't 1CCed anything.

I'll definately second this one.

That makes me feel a bit better. I was using the Saturn port and found it reasonably challenging.

Well, if you use the rapid fire code that's in the Saturn version (hold B, and press Y, Right, Left, X, Z, L, R at the screen with the "Start/Options" choice), you'll see what most tournament players were using. It makes the game waaaaaaaay easier.
