Shooting Game Tournament 2008 is a friendly score competition among users of shmups.com. The score validation works like in the hi-score threads. You just play the game on PCB, emulator or any console port and post your score which you don't need to prove. (However if you are a troll or have a questionable reputation, be prepared to be asked for snapshots or other verifications.) ANYONE CAN JOIN!

Starting Date: Monday, 25th August 2008
Playing Week #1: Capcom Week (25th August - 1st September)
Playing Week #2: Caravan Week (8th September - 15th September)
Playing Week #3: Not Taito Week (22nd September - 29th September)
Playing Week #4: Doujin Week (6th October - 13th October)
Playing Week #5: Famous Manic Week (20th October - 27th October)
There will be a one week break after each playing week.
Rules
Players and their Teams
All players will be divided into teams. Every team consists of a minimum of 5 players to a maximum of 7 players. Each week, every team member can play, but only the best 3 scores of a team will count for the overall rankings (an individual ranking high score table will be displayed as well). Having a larger team is optimal in case any issues arise, such as a member being unable to play during a week.
Team Captains
Every team will have a captain. Preferably, the teammates will agree on their team captain on their own. Otherwise, a team vote may be enforced to choose the team captain. The captain will simply be in charge of organizing and keeping an eye on his team - reminding players who didn't play yet, or to encourage strategy talk between team members. Don't try to be the captain because it sounds so cool (this isn't school), but rather because you are dependable and would like to invest time and effort to hold your team together.
Game Selection
Each Playing Week will have a certain theme, for example a company, subgenre, game series, system, release date. Five potentially interesting and probably easy to access games for this theme will be put into a pool. About 2 days before the playing week starts, a special voting thread will be created, and the game which gets the most votes will be played.
How can I join? Just hit the quote button on the 2nd post of this thread and fill the form out. And don't worry if you are completely new, everyone who wants to play can join.
What decides what team I am on? You may either join one of the existing teams, or you may create your own team. You may also just fill out the entry form without specifying a team and get randomly invited into one team or put into a team set up by regionals.

This is more for people creating a team that isn't in the tournament yet. If your team has already been created, just fill it in with the decision your captain/team has made about it, or leave it blank. If you are not signing up on a team initially, then you may also leave this blank.
