Panzer Dragoon Saga Videos

Post by roushimsx »

Well, I bit the bullet recently and picked up PDS off of EBay to replace the copy I lent out about 6 years ago and never got back. $150 hurt the morale a bit, but it was something I'd long since grown to accept once I realized I was never getting my old copy back (oh and believe me, I've tried to hunt that guy down...).

Anyway, I've noticed a sad lack of decent sized screenshots and videos on the net for this little gem (especially since it was easilly the best RPG of 1998 and has such a strong ebay presence) and decided to do a little something about it.

Is anyone here interested in seeing some of these videos posted here? so far I've encoded up two videos (and I plan on doing pretty much the whole game as I play through it), the first showing the intro sequence up until you get your dragon (about 19 minutes and 1 seconds long, 183megs, 640x480) and the second picks up after that and shows Edge finding the Captain and then going through the battle tutorial, which does a nice job of showing off various aspects of the battle system (11 minutes 38 seconds, 110 megs, 640x480).

Because of time constraints and hard drive limitations, I'm only going to be playing about an hour a day (maybe less) and encoding the highlights (I wish I could cut something together like the Silent Hill replay videos but I'm just not that good at editing), but if there's not really any interest then I'll just archive these videos for myself for now (and then flood the usenet once I finish the project).

I would only be interested in watching the boss fights that are high up in the sky. Such as with Atolm and Grig Orig, they're amazing.

See if you can find an enemy in the game called the Golia Hunter, rarest enemy located above the forest bet almost no-one have seen him before, then get it on tape.

Question guys what was your favourite battle?

Erm... those aren't that hard to find. Just fly around whenever the radar goes red and one should attack you (if I recall correctly). In fact, almost every "rare" enemy in PDSaga has a certain "area" you can go to to find it.

But hey, if you want I can get my roomate to take pictures of the battle/data screen Saturday evening sometime. :)

As for my favorite battle... good God, every battle in that game is f'ing amazing. Grig Orig, Infested Grig Orig, Guardian Dragon, all Atolm battles, Sestren... too many to choose from.

I love the guardian dragon battle, the music kicks in and he destroys the ship argh!!!!!

Using vengeance orbs on atolm ancient was some serious fun.

Nah no need for pics jp, I believe you've seen it (theres 2 types of golia hunter, however only 1 is listed!)other is a golia tracker.

Anywhere i can get the ost for saga?

As long as no one got their knickers in a knot over it, I could upload it and link it right quick.

Then again, you never know how some people would feel about pirating an out of print soundtrack.

It's quite badass

I just thought you wanted to see it. Or someone on here... or something.

Fun Fact:
They're actually listed on the wrong names. The Hunter is listed under Tracker and vice versa. Fun stuff.

As for PDSaga soundtracks, I would highly recommend the Memorial Album, though the original 2-disc album is also good. The other two are just half-assed.

Though the best PD soundtracks ever would be Panzer Dragoon Full Sound Original Soundtrack and Panzer Dragoon II Zwei. Awesome stuff. :D

100% congrats! ''You are worthy to live amongst the gods'' ring any bells?

Took me awhile to get 0ver 97% as i didn't realise that above georgius counted as a flying zone!

You ever deliver the veratu pipe from the guy at the camp to the girl in jubbas? I still maintain I'm the guy who discovered it first back in 98!

I always felt there was one boss fight they never included. They said each tower has its own dragon guardian, the shellcoof had its namesake, but the ''tower'' didn't it only had the 2 androids inside and sestern was beyond the towers not the guardian of the individual inside the game. I felt there should have been another dragon to rival atolm and the guy from zwei and shelcoof.

English mode? for japanese version sorry it not got.

I sold my pal version awhile ago and bought the jp version sealed for about 1 tenth of the sale value of my pal copy.

Its very import friendly and i think the script is online in english, I could pretty much tell you the exact words for any part of the game if you pm'ed me and you owned the jp version. If you want that is.(I've beaten it about 20 times lol) I actually enjoy every battle!

I just watched atolm video 3.

Not trying to crticise but you made it look much harder than it really is Use the vengence orbs! strategy or a shield. yeah you use 2 guages but you don't have to use beserk maxis + you can hit him with a full 3 guages of hand gun afterwards.

Oh yea, I know i fumbled on that one. Didn't know the vengence orb strategy since I'm not using a FAQ. Going to use everything I learned from this run through on my next one.
