Imago (1983) - A cross between Centipede and Galaga

Post by 320x240 »

with a little bit of Space Invaders thrown in. Has anyone played it? I haven't played it that much but I like it so far. It's playable in MAME.

The game is basically a Centipede clone with a twist. When you hit certain parts of the centipede they turn into Galaga-like insects that spirals down towards the bottom of the screen. Sometimes a 'blue meanie' enemy will appear and move Space Invaders like across and down the screen. There are also some enemies that move across the screen at certain intervals. You can also aquire a Galaga like double shot, without risking one of your lives. Try it if you like this sort of thing.

You get the double shot by shooting the little green meanie that sometimes appear. It seems to appear in level 4 and 8 and possibly every fourth level troughout the game. Since it appear right in front of your ship you can't really miss it and most of the time you won't even know you have shot it.

Sounds something like another arcade game called Slither that used a trackball controller setup.

Did Imago get a USA arcade distribution (as I've never heard of it)?

MAWS doesn't list any other game mady by Acom. The A may stand for American perhaps?
