Anyone want anything while I'm in Japan?

Post by mojo »

I'm off to Japan later this month, and so if anyone wants anything just let me know and I'd be happy to get it for you!

I wasn't sure if I should put this in the trading section, but I'm not actually selling anything, it's more like a group buy at cost price.

I live in the UK so I can bring back small items and post them from here, but for other countries and larger stuff the very reliable Japanese postal system will have to be used.

It's possible to get all sorts of unusual stuff, so just ask and I'll keep an eye open.

Actually any gaming LD would be good.

Always been needing the Zuntata Rastan remix release, and the Contra official OSTs...

You could probably grab a bag of those magical fruit pills everyone has been dying to try.

Ask if Initial D for ps3 will have world wide online mode and if not how they are going to track that you are not in Japan.
Thanks for the offer to get us stuff!

Ooh, I want some of those too :)

D: it will almost certainly work, although I bet ping times will be rubbish. It takes light 166ms seconds to travel from the UK to Japan around the world, so that's a round trip of 333ms right off the bat to Japanese servers and gamers.

iatneH: link plz :)

Ed Oscuro: there are a lot of old games available in the shops there. Unfortunately I'm not as much of an expert as I'd like to be on old shooters, but I'll keep my eyes open.

Eating at a Japanese McDonald's resturant...

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

It was an interesting experience to eat at a Japanese McDonald's...such a typical Japanese McD employee gets paid by how many people are served and not by the hourly wage (like how it is in the USA when working at an American McD's resturant)...

It was really something to order what is known as a "Food Combo" in the States is known as a "Food Set" in Japan...by Supersizing a Food Set, you really don't get that much more food than if you were to order at such an Amercian McD's...

I thought I tried a Japanese Big Mac and see how it tasted...tastes the same at any other McD resturant worldwide...McD's corporate headquarters stress that they want their Big Macs to taste the same no matter where you buy it worldwide -- so much for mass conformity when it comes to eating a Big Mac sandwich anywhere in the world...

It was so much fun lining up amusement ride style at such a Japanese McD's and upon taking your order and paying for it, I got my food set order in approximately seven seconds...

I like how nice the price of a smile on a Japanese McD's menu is: Free

There's a lot of games available (usually for too much money), yes, but these aren't games I'm looking for...and I doubt it's likely to find these in a game store. If there were any poster/non-game items I'd expect them to be Gundam or Final Fantasy related.

I still thought it was worth asking though.

How much is that old Street Fighter II animated movie going for these days? I need to make a DVD-quality rip of Chun-li's ass, which still isn't in the so-called "uncut" versions here in the states! :x

I have tried it and you are right, it's exactly the same as it is everywhere else. At least the local fast food places do some more interesting stuff, like the Teriyaki Burger at Freshness Burger or octopus balls (like chicken nuggets).

I try to stay away from that soft of stuff though. There is so much nice food in Japan, why would you want to eat that kind of thing? My diet always improves so much every time I go, and coming back I get a sort of toxic shock as my body re-adjusts to a British diet :?

Thanks for the compliment...it was fun to eat at a Japanese McD. Despite spending an extra 200 to 300 yen more to "supersize" a typical McD Food Set, it really wasn't that much extra food given... ^_~

I think it depends on what you are used to... Since I stopped eating fast food, I can't eat a whole McDonalds meal, let along a supersize one! It's the same with those microwave meals you get from supermarkets.

If it is less than 9,000yen, one of these will do nicely. (Battle Bakraid soundtrack with spine)

How about twenty 100 yen coins? I live in Minnesota and nobody deals in Japanese coins. I would like to use them in my candy cab. Unless anyone else knows where I can obtain coins...

100 yen coins I can certainly do, in fact I already have loads of them :)

If only I could get a cab in my suitcase... *sigh*. They are so expensive and hard to get here.

I'd be interested in about 20 or so 100 yen coins also, for my Egret II :)
Right now I just have a pushbutton connected to the coin counter :?
I know it's silly, but pushing a button just isn't as much fun as dropping a coin in a slot

You can just go to a local currency exchange and get those, no need to have them brought back.

Well, if anyone wants coins I can get them, no problem. 100 yen coins only weigh 4.8 grams so it's no problem to post 20 of them.

The local currency places here can't get coins either, only notes for yen. Euros and USD are no problem.
