lol its a great indicator of societies change. that a film that was once banned is now considered a comedy.

I... don't ever remember it being banned. It was hugely popular, actually.

Was it banned in the UK? I know they went through a period where horror was EVIL AND BAD.

Not sure about the rest of the world but it was banned in my country, only saw it on tv a few years ago.

Lots of stuff gets banned in UK though, books are one of the more common things.

It wasn't banned from the cinema, but it was banned on video for a while (the 80's) along with the other "Video Nasties" like -
Driller Killer, Zombie Flesh Eaters, The Evil Dead, Clockwork Orange, I Spit On Your Grave, Last House On The Left, Canible Ferox, The Beyond etc etc.

The one thing that always got me was the part at the end....

The steps in Georgetown, DC are at least 30 feet away from the closest house and nothing has been remodeled or removed in that area for ages. The priest must have FLOWN out of the window to get to steps.... and they are MAD steep! There's a huge gas station at the bottom of them now.

I Spit On Your Grave is possibly the coolest movie ever.
