Please post scores for this game in the new high score thread. Thanks!

Image

Rules: 3 lives, slowdown rate must not be more than 5%. Replays are required for new first place scores. Version 1.00h is highly recommended, and you can update to that version by doing the following:

Quote:
- First you must patch to 1.00f, which can be found here.
- Then you get the 1.00f to 1.00h patch, found here.
- After you patch up to 1.00h, you may also get the English translation patch. This patch requires 1.00h to install, and does not modify gameplay.

Notes:
- Please do *not* use the hitbox patch for submitted scores.
- The retexturing patch isn't exactly recommended, though I think replays should still work fine between retextured and nonretextured game files.
- If you have uploaded your replay on gensokyo.org, link to the replay description page, and not the actual file. You'll know it's the description page if the URL has the word "download" and a number contained in it. You'll know if it's the replay file if the URL has the replay's filename contained in it.
- User "lite" in the score boards is myself; this is the name I use in the game's internal score boards. Honestly, I use that name because I feel like it, but "lite" and "lgb" relate to the same thing. If you would like to use the name you use in the internal score board here, feel free to do so.

There is technically already a thread for this game here, but I don't think the creator comes around here anymore...should this new thread be the one linked in the Index thread instead, assuming it gets some activity?

Oh damn you. I was going to open one myself. :\

Well, anyway…

Easy:
moozooh - 83,907,720 - ALL - Reimu-A - 0.39% - replay

Normal:
moozooh - 119,286,470 - ALL - Reimu-A - 0.33% - replay

Extra:
moozooh - 106,219,070 - X - Reimu-A - 0.46% - replay

Also, it would be much better if you removed the demo board (it's stupid), and included the WR scores for reference (I can post them and keep them up to date myself, since I'm doing it anyway).

Also, do you actually need distinction by characters?

Hey moozooh, they aren't counting Easy scores. :o

Anyway, I haven't beaten EoSD on normal yet. I guess I'll give it a shot and see how far I get. :p

(Why did I not put the Easy boards? I don't know. I like Easy.)

moozooh wrote:

I included it for those who don't wish to purchase the full version and to keep it from advertising some to torrenting it. Not like it would matter much...

I don't know the WR, but I'm guessing they're the ones at Touhoustorm. If that's so, or if you could supply them yourself, then yes I'll put them. I usually wouldn't to because I don't care for beating someone else, only myself.

Yes. The more, the merrier, and I'm a bit annoyed other scoreboard mods don't do this. (I didn't change anything for Winglancer because I expected it to get very little attention, and somehow I was right.)

Also updated, if that means anything.
--------
=NORMAL=
LGB - 45.559.110 - Stage 4 (Boss) - ReimuA - 0.591% Slow Rate
LGB - 55.201.550 - Stage 5 - ReimuB - 0.803% Slow Rate
LGB - 34.821.890 - Stage 4 - MarisaA - 0.750% Slow Rate
LGB - 59.200.600 - Stage 5 - MarisaB - 0.557% Slow Rate

Tried all of the types for reals and figured they all had their uses. Even though it's fun to "pick it up for: missile".

On topic of types to choose, the only good ones for scoring are Reimu-B and Marisa-B. The latter mainly due to Master Spark, so if you can't use it properly (i.e., at very specific bombing points for major bullet-cancel), it won't give any significant advantages over the more lenient Reimu-B. Looking at the WR table, it shows.

Adding Easy boards, even though it's just the same as adding the demo boards. They're all Carivan-like anyway.

I disagree, but as long as the Easy board is there, it's fine by me. Also, I would probably put the demo board below the full game board.

Also, I updated the WR board.

Also, fifth instance of the word "board" in this post.

i'm still obsessed with it.

Removed the demo board, much to moozooh's satisfaction; anyone who wishes to play the demo versions, simply ask and the board shall magically appear again. Updated the "world records" at Royalflare. Posted a link to the main tEoSD board at Royalflare.

Added Impervious' score in; welcome. What is your slowdown rate?

What's that, 40 fps? How can you play like that?

Hard:
moozooh — 59,757,750 — Stage 4 — Marisa-B — 0.83% — no replay for now.

Easier than I thought; no-missing through stages 1-3 isn't hard at all if bombs are used sparingly. Reducing stupid mistakes should be a priority for an ALL.

I think I'll be using Marisa-B for other difficulties from this point on, and do a few passes to renew my scores. So that they will be harder for LGB to beat. :P

Also, my Extra score doesn't beat the stage. If it did, I'd label it as "C".

Oh, I thought you labelled them as Xs for clears. Go ahead and ruin everything, I'm not going to be playing this for a while, it seems... I tried MarisaB at one point, but realized that it would be hard to score like I usually do, so I switched to ReimuA.

Is that so? Didn't check the replay. Maybe Impervious D ninja-edited it in after I left the thread, or it just slipped by me. Sorry, but 32% is a bit much. Please input the slowdown rate as well, it's displayed when you look at your replay details.

Edit: Done. I'm very tempted to remove the "world records".

It's displayed on the replay download page. I haven't checked if it's correct, it might be that the uploader doesn't always detect the slowdown rate correctly (although I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be written in plain text in the header of an .rpy file).

Btw, there are some updates on the WR boards:

Code:
Extra M-B:   604,119,290 by Slime    '08/08
Extra R-B:   565,070,680 by Kagamin  '08/07
Extra M-A:   541,740,150 by Kagamin  '08/07
Extra R-A:   521,987,940 by Kagamin  '08/07

Hard M-A:    315,015,320 by OOSAKA   '08/06

Normal R-A:  243,186,730 by REKO     '08/07

Pretty sure they've had some Extra mode compo recently, since the M-B Extra record's been improved several times in a row, with Slime still coming out victorious. It should be noted that his score is really close to the theoretical maximum (~620M) now.

Tried some new things I didn't do previously, beat my score on the first try (the playthroughs are still very messy with a lot of embarrassing mistakes).

Easy:
moozooh — 84,025,040 — ALL — Reimu-A — 1.06% (replay);
moozooh — 82,602,460 — ALL — Marisa-B — 0.87% (replay).

Extra:
moozooh — 143,756,490 — X — Reimu-A — 0.70% (replay).

As I thought, I can go much farther now. That Maze of Love card gives me a lot of trouble, though. :\ The pre-boss part I see realistically improvable by about ~20M (I've gotten ~90M previously a few times).

Easy:
spongdangly — 76,599,250 — ALL — Reimu-A — 0.40% (replay)

This was my second run through, though I don't think I can get that much more. Maybe there being more then two people on the board will encourage others to post their scores or try out the game.

Not being able to see your hit box when in focus mode sucks big time though. Speaking of which, do you earn less points shooting focused like in PCB and IN?

It's not the points that you get less in PCB and IN for focused fire. You get less cherry+ in the former, and no time orbs for dealing damage in the latter. Since EoSD doesn't have either, it's all good.

moozooh is correct. As far as I know, the only methods of scoring are collecting point items at the top of the screen, collecting excess powerups, and (ab)using the type Bs.

Setting the "collecting items at the top of the screen" aside, a good amount of points come from the following two factors:

1. End-of-stage/end-of/game bonus. The formula is ((stage# * 1,000 + remaining power * 100 + graze count * 10) * point item count + remaining lives * 3,000,000 + remaining bombs * 1,000,000) * difficulty factor.

The most important parts here is that the amount of items you collect is multiplied by the amount of graze points, among other things. So getting 300 items and 1000 graze points on any single stage of normal difficulty would mean 3M points just from that. If you need three bombs to make sure you get these items and graze points, using them is always better. Hoarding lives and bombs for the end-of-game cash-in doesn't really prove profitable most of the time because the bonuses are just so small.

2. Bullet canceling. There are patterns in the game that give you 800-1,500k points by using a bomb for bullet-canceling them. And it usually also mean an opportunity to get some free graze points using the post-bomb invulnerability.

As such, on Easy difficulty the remaining lives/bombs bonus doesn't exceed ~10M, so they're best gained elsewhere using the stock.

Hope it was helpful.

New Hard mode score:
moozooh — 97,922,990 — Stage 5 — Marisa-B — 0.58% (replay).

Still a few stupid deaths (one on stages 2 and 4, two on stage 3), but otherwise much better than the previous attempt. Too bad I fell slightly short of 100M.

Lunatic:
moozooh — 97,640,900 — Stage 4 — Reimu-A — 0.59% (replay).

This was played after the Hard mode, and I still don't believe I didn't beat my Hard record with this. :P Still, this was the first time I played Lunatic in a year's span, so I believe I actually did fine (still not completely without stupid deaths, though).

Easy:
spongdangly — 85,782,970 — ALL — Reimu-A — 0.39% (replay)

Thanks for the tips moozooh. My replay is pretty sloppy but whatever, it's good enough for first place (well at least for now).

Grr.

LGB - 86.645.290 - Stage 6 (Boss) - Reimu A - 0.107%

I don't feel like uploading a replay yet.

That is insane! He makes Flan's last spell look like a joke!

How did he get around 200mil at completion though?

1. End-of-stage/end-of-game bonus.

Code:
((7 * 1000 + 128 * 100 + 9999 * 10) * 675 + 0 * 3000000 + 0 * 1000000) * 2 =
= ((7000 + 12800 + 99990) * 675) * 2 = (119790 * 675) * 2 = 161,716,500

So basically, the remaining lives and bombs only account for a trivial amount in superplays like that?
