The 411 on the Hori Fighting Stick PC -- classy PCE stick!
For Patmaster,
That Hori produced Fighting Stick PC for the PC Engine Duo platform is already a world-class joystick without the need to be modded. My scores on a typical PCE game are higher with this Hori PCE joystick than if I were to use a stock vanilla Turbo Pad or even the kick-ass Turbo Stick setup. The overall dimensions of this PCE arcade joystick are about roughly the same size and length of the PCE Duo/Turbo Duo consoles themselves. ^_~
Of course, with the appropiate reverse Duo to PC Engine controller adapter, the Fighting Stick PC can be used on the classic PC Engine & Turbo Grafx-16 consoles...works like a charm. Use the standard mini 8-Din plug connection interface...
The Fighting Stick PC is constructed of two pieces of stamped thin sheet metal for both the top and bottom halves so that it gives it's heft and won't budge if placed on a sturdy platform such as a table. Hori knew what they were doing when designing this baby from the ground up. Plus the fact that it was made in Japan shows that the world-reknown quality control & craftmanship that Hori is famous for has no equal to any other PCE arcade joystick made before or after it...it is legendary in the PCE gaming world. I, personally, have never seen a finer PCE joystick than the best-of-the-best that is the Hori Fighting Stick PC... ^_~
There is a "button functionality" switch to select from original classic PCE two button scheme or the optional "arcade" style six-button scheme layout as well...
FYI: You'd have to select the six button scheme if you want to play the Super CD-Rom2 version of Forgotten Worlds with a three button scheme setup. The USA version of SCD Forgotten Worlds does retain the three button support (even though TTI did not release it's NEC Avenue Pad 3 controller with said game for the USA Turbo Duo market)...
Up to 16 shots per second auto-fire rate is possible with this Fighting Stick PC arcade joystick controller via two speed settings...
Two speed setting for the slow-motion functionality via switch...
This particular Fighting Stick PC was sold in Japan for the usual going rate of 7,800 yen back in 1994-1996 -- is the basis for the later iterations of the Hori Fighting Stick family of arcade sticks for the PSX, SS, etc (although just not as well made in construction, of course).
Good luck, it's money well spent to get one... ^_~
