Only if the shmup devs would make a shmup title to take advantage of the 9:16 wide screen aspect ratio of the current gen LCD monitors...none have yet done so.

I see that Arc System Works has an upcoming fighting game in the works that utilizes the 16:9 aspect raito in all it's full glory...will the shmup genre embrace it as well?

We had a cable tv channel over here that broadcasted some TATE programs. Yes, you were supposed to tate your tv for them. No wonder the channel ("MoonTV") went bankcrupt eventually. They also had different game shows for different consoles. Damn I miss that channel ;_;
Before Pope John Paul died he decreed that Aliens were also GOD's creatures and we should treat them with respect.

The shmup genre will embrace it, there have already been 16:9 ratio shmups like Omega-5. Or do you want tate 16:9 games? That would seriously rock.

Btw, I'm now downloading a playable demo of the new Arc System Works game ("Battle Fantasia") from the Hong Kong PSN store \o/

BF demo has been out for a while, it plays very fast and very classic.
First fighter I ever saw that beats Guilty Gears visuals.
It's 3D, but you hardly notice that, it looks, plays and feels 2D.
I already pre-ordered it.
And yes, give us 9:16 tate shmups please

Nice touch with the HRAP controller and classic DDP on the LCD monitor...

Now are both the father and son playing with a copy of PSX ver. of DDP or are they playing with a Supergun setup + XRGB-2 + modded HRAP + priceless DDP PCB? Either way is good enough for some DDP love... ^_~

Shiki III was the last game my father ever played with me. :(
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.
