Question about Gradius Pack for Playstation/Saturn

I was thinking about getting the Gradius Pack for Playstation or Saturn, and was wondering a couple of things.

First, is there any difference between the two versions? I would like the Playstation version.

Second, can you turn down the difficulty a good bit on Gradius II? I like the game, but it pisses me off.

Yes, Gradius II can be tamed quite a bit.

The PSX version is something like 0.01% more accurate iirc (something to do with the arcade resolution of Gradius II), but the Saturn versions comes with Vic Viper papercraft. PSX has a sheet of stickers instead.

A major difference is mainly price, the Playstation one generally runs far higher than the Saturn version, that and the aforementioned resolution of course. The opening movie is also grainy on Saturn, but that shouldn't be a major gripe if at all.
