Re: HRAP2SA
I loathe to once again show my 'ignertnez' but do I have to create an account before I can learn the price for the stick itself?orange wrote:didn't see any topics around here for this, figured I should put one up :>

What an unobservant doof I am! Thanks...orange wrote:the prices for the controllers themselves are in the upper left corner of the shipping page
Price for 1 pcs = 13490yen/each
Price for 2 pcs = 13290yen/each
Price for 3 pcs = 13090yen/each
Price for 4 pcs = 12890yen/each
Price for 5 or more = 12590yen/each

Hmmmm, $135 for the stick & $67 for shipping pretty much tells me I would be much far better off to mod my HRAP2 with Sanwa or Semitsu parts & be done with it.
And maybe the limited amount of units produced... It's more a collectors item. I will mod my HRAP2 with Sanwa all the way and will be fine. But darn... Appr. 120 Euros for the stick shipped to Germany.. Not a bad offer at all for a brand new Limited one.
EDIT @Fudoh: With the HRAP2 Hori slightly changed the position of the buttons and the stick to more japanese arcade. That means, that the HRAP2 is built like an arcade panel as for the layout.,

I only mention this as no one on this post has & not everyone may know.
I didnt until I read about it...
The SA stands for Sanwa as in Sanwa stick.
Just as the HRAP2 SE had a Semitsu stick.
The buttons will be Hori standard ( Hori makes their own buttons Im guessing, or do they? ) but will install a Sanwa stick.
Which model stick, I dont know...
This has been a public service announcement...

Here is a link to the Hri site, that shows the editions for the HRAP1.
http://www.hori.jp/products/ps2/control ... index.html
They are called Special Additon (ALL Sanwa Parts) and Special Edition (ALL Semitsu Parts). I don't think that they will change it in their HRAP2 range.
Aah, here, I've found a link to the offical Hori page refering the HRAP2SA
http://www.hori.jp/products/ps2/control ... c_pro2_sa/
As I have stated before, ALL Sanwa Parts..
JLF-SK along with OBSF30...
I think I don't need a stick that I can mod myself the same way.

I have no clue what the difference is between Sanwa and Semitsu sticks, so .. :Sdoodude wrote:I only mention this as no one on this post has & not everyone may know.

Seimitsu sticks commonly have a tighter throw than sanwa sticks, the stick also snaps back tp neutral a little faster.Udderdude wrote:

Seimitsu is commonly used on a select few japanese shmup cabs as well as some (but not all) newer fighters, while sanwa is commonly used on most other games.

HRAP1SA contains OBSF-30RG buttons, which have a bigger/higher-quality microswitch and slightly different 'feel' than the standard OBSF-30Fudoh wrote:The parts are also the same, so I really guess there are no differences at all ????
HRAP2SA looks to contain just the standard OBSF-30 buttons, not the pricier "RG" model.
I really wouldn't mind getting a HRAP2 SE - are they coming - have they been out?
Having just got a Seimitsu to replace the super long throw and engage VSHG stick (Sanwa, though not sure which one), I've turned to Seimitsu. Perfect for shmups it seems. So I'd love to have an HRAP2 SE to replace my knacked old Hori FS2. (And Doodude - I'm sticking with you - I'm still working towards building a PS2 stick from scratch too.)
Finally, any rumours about HRAP3 SE/SA?

I've been thinking about switching to Seimitsu myself, but I also play fighters. Anyone know how they respond on those? Smooth half circle motions are key. I know it's been discussed before but I couldn't find anything w/the search.

We here shall not rest until we have made a drawing-room of your shaft, and if you do not all finally go down to your doom in patent-leather shoes, then you shall not go at all.
Right, but my game play right now is about 75% shmup, 25% fighter. I find the Sanwa perfectly decent for shmups and great for fighters, but I think a tighter throw could help my shmup game. Just wondering if the tradeoff is worth it.

I doubt it'll affect your game in an incredible degree but if you predominantly play shooters, you ought to go for it. Some JP arcades use Seimitsu for fighters and I haven't heard of anybody complaining. I have different sticks for both genres and like hitting the harder Seimitsu angles so I guess get a stick if you need another one.
If top US fighting game players who always use Happ competition sticks can adjust a fair degree to Sanwa sticks in a few days and still place very well, it's fair for you to not expect much change.

Just to note, as people have said before, the HRAP SA did use RGs, but what people don't know is that they were specially made RGs in the Vermillion color which were Hori exclusive. You were never able to buy OBSF-30RG in Vermillion.
For the HRAP2 SA, there are no RGs so it's a bit of a downgrade, but they do have another exclusive button color for Hori. The start and select buttons are OBSF-24 DH/K (dark hai/black). Dark hai meaning grey.
And the HRAP SE also had the higher quality microswitches (same as the microswitches used in Sanwa's RGs). These are PS-14-GX buttons. However, they were not an exclusive and were readily available to the public. They are now discontinued from Seimitsu though.
