There are two versions of Exceleena's I assume you are talking about the Red Exceleena 2, which is a little more available and cheaper than the Exceleena Blue (more expensive than an astro).
Exceleena's have a rotation mechanism (actually its just a bar on a hinge), so rotation is a little easier than an astro. You'd still need to lift the full weight of the monitor, but not have to bother with putting it onto its back. The Exceleena speakers/sound is also better than Astro.
Having said that, I'd also still pick an astro out of cost, and availability.

The only sit-down I've ever owned is my Excellena which I think is still the best looking sit-down out there
I will say that rotating the monitor is pain. You can do it by yourself, but it's still not a very smooth operation.
I've heard that you can tate Egret II's w/ one hand

No. If you actually do it the right way you have to unscrew the monitor from four brackets, but I just always leave it unscrewed. It doesn't really line up perfectly so you have to rotate it and kind of pull out on it too to get it over those brackets.undamned wrote:I've heard that you can tate Egret II's w/ one hand![]()

Yikes, leaving such a 29" Nanao monitor unscrewed on an Egret II...can the rollers mechanism still support all that weight? I'd err and just to be on the "safe side" and use the four screw brackets anyways.Ozymandiaz1260 wrote:No. If you actually do it the right way you have to unscrew the monitor from four brackets, but I just always leave it unscrewed. You'd think that such LCD monitor manufacturers would've made such 29" sized monitors in the 4:3 aspect ratio format as a replacement for the aging CRT-based RGB monitors. When will that day come?
PC Engine Fan X! ^_~
I've been waiting too, but with such a small market for 29" 4:3 LCD monitors I don't think its going to happen. Its clear Sega and Taito aren't waiting either with their newest cabinets, so the next question is when will the few shmup developers remaining take advantage of a 9:16 display field?PC Engine Fan X! wrote:You'd think that such LCD monitor manufacturers would've made such 29" sized monitors in the 4:3 aspect ratio format as a replacement for the aging CRT-based RGB monitors. Fully assembled, the Exceleena Blue is:cools wrote:I'm still chasing details of the external dimensions of the cab...
38 1/2" Wide
57" Tall
37" Deep
Disassembled (remove the control panel, sides and front), and the metal case is only 29 1/2" wide. This means the Exceleena Red/2 is the same 29 1/2" wide fully assembled (since there are no extended side panels).

Can the metal case be broken down any more than that?Dave_K. wrote:Fully assembled, the Exceleena Blue is:cools wrote:I'm still chasing details of the external dimensions of the cab...
