Remember Animalympics?

This recently got a german DVD release which I just found out about, and I am hyped. This is one of my most vivid childhood film memories. When the theme song came up it gave me shivers down my spine. And unlike other films I loved as a kid but leave me cold nowaways (Disneys "The Black Hole"), this still is superbly made and funny.

On a sidenote, some of the female animals have such strong sexual connotations about them that this film could easily turn you into a furry. Kit Mambo has the biggest boobs you can find outside the internet. Also, notice the strong 80ies vibe going on.

Make sure to watch Bruce Kwakimato. He stomps any of these unfunny recent CGI penguins into the ground.

I am currently trying not to watch it all on crappy YouTube and wait for the DVD to arrive, but really, it´s hard. :) Wikipedia tells me that this movie was done by Steven Lisberger, director of TRON, and animator Brad Bird, who later worked on The Simpsons, The Incredibles and Ratatouille. Apparently this was shown on the Disney Channel quite often, but well, we don´t have that here.

I can't recall I have ever seen that one.
I thought you were referring to that other animation with the soccer match which is also still quite funny to see I think. Don't know the name though.
All errors are intentional but mistakes could have been made.

This was a favourite of mine too, my parents recorded it off the tv and I pretty much wore the tape out from watching it so much.

from the word go, this animation inspires global well being. let this film shape your life. it will make you a better person.
Heh, I see Billy Crystal credited in this...never have seen this before, myself.

Having animal versions of various people is pretty funny in a way...man, some of the voices in here sound very familiar - should've had another look at the credits, I think. The Mayor of Olympic Island (lol) throws up a rather weak Nixon impersonation...gonna stop watching it there for now.

Just Graham Gouldman, actually.
