weird supergun problem...

Post by Grinning Cat »

I've just (finally!) got around to setting up my new supergun - a Sigma AV5000. Basically, I'm using it with an RGB Scart cable, on a RGB CRT. The good news is that the picture looks great...the bad, is that I can't seem to get any sound :( I tried playing around with the volume on both the tv and the PCBs, but to no avail...but then I noticed something strange: this is on a Sony tv, and when I cycle through the AV channels I can pick up sound on AV3 :S However, there's no picture. On AV1, I get RGB picture, but no sound.

For the sound connections, I'm connecting just with this Y-cable (I'm sure that's not what it's actually called  ), that came with the supergun. I can post pics if needed...there's one connection on the Supergun itself (which this cable goes into), and then this splits into the two connectors that go into the tv's front audio jacks. I really just need a way to somehow combine what I'm getting from AV1 & 3 :? Which I'm sure's probably easier said than done! Any help much appreciated :)

AV3 is usually the front AV socket, so it sounds as you're simply using some RCA (Cinch) sockets on your TV set for the audio which are NOT associated with the RGB scart socket.

The AV1 Scart port usually only handles internal audio through the Scartsocket, so would need a cable which takes the RGB video AND the audio from the supergun and puts is into the same scart connection.

hmmm that does make sense. The weird thing is, I had a similar connection set-up going on with a AV7000 - that worked fine. I only really sold it, because I wanted to use neo-geo compatible pads/sticks, which only the AV5000 (and 6000, I think?) support.

I have no idea where I would get a cable that could carry audio, though  It wasn't the easiest finding a plain RGB cable for it, to be honest. Anyone here want to make me one?

Is it possible to just hook the cable up to the back of a hi-fi for audio, instead?
