Check out arcadelocator. Sorry forgot the link. But google that and it should be the first thing. I listed some places with shooters in there. You should also try the colleges around - UC Berkeley, San Jose State, San Francisco State. It's a real shame most of the machines have real crappy sticks/contols and no one cares.

Nickel City in San Jose off 85 had Raiden Fighters 2, and Dimahoo, and Giga Wing.... But almost all the machines there have weird problems with monitor color or positioning.

The BearCade on UC Berkeley campus has Macros Plus, and I think one or two more (can't remember).

My hometown's Sacramento, but I'm going to school in San Diego. If you guys are interested in meeting up over the summer I'll probably be up for it.

Very unfortunate. I was there in January. Raiden Fighters 2 didn't work(put money in, always loads back to the title screen), GW had busted stick, and Dimahoo had messed up screen. And Mars Matrix had messed up screen too.

They also have some old school games, like Carrier Airwing, UN Squadron.

 It's "Killa Kali".

I'm down for a shmupmeet. I currently live in Brentwood, which is in the northern region up there with Concord, Pittsburg, Antioch, Oakley, etc. It has to be on a weekend, or maybe sometime this summer though.

Sorry for the delay, I've been away every weekend for the last month and a half, and the garage is still a mess with parts everywhere (one cab is completely disassembled). I should have a little time the next couple weekends to get things in order. So I'm thinking of hosting Saturday June 18th at my place in San Jose. How does this sound to everyone?

I'll have 3-4 cabs setup with vertical monitors, and a couple classic cabs ready to play.

Are you down with people bringing over JAMMA boards? I've got Bakraid, Dimahoo and Batrider. I should also have Blazing Star by the time of the meet.

PCBs definately welcome. I already have Bakraid and Dimahoo (Great Mahou Daisakusen version). I'll post the list of items I have the week before to make sure people don't bring redundant stuff (as I may get more by then too :D ).

I just moved back to San Francisco so I'd definitely be in. No one plays real games anymore it seems. It would be so nice to really get into some heated shmup action with people that actually know their shit.

Right on! Would be cool to have some expert skill level representing (like yourself and hopefully Bernard Doria who is just 20 minutes away in Milpitas).

I'm hardly expert level, but thanks. It would be insane to meet Bern D. though. I don't think I'd really appreciate Dodonpachi like I do if it weren't for him. Definitely looking forward to it. I have an esprade board if anyone cares and most of the DC and PS2 shmups.

I'll wait for the list of items to appear before I decide whether to go. But for now, I'm free on June 18th.

I'll keep that day open. Thanks Dave_K. for hosting it.

I have for DC:

Gunbird 2(both versions), GW 2(both versions), Psyvariar 2, Zero Gunner, GW 1 US, SNS 2, Mars Matrix, Bangai-O.

I am afraid I don't own any boards.

And no way am I gonna miss a chance to see Bern D in action.

I'm definetly interested, but I've been having some car trouble lately, so don't know if I can get out there, as I live up in Brentwood. I'll keep the date in mind though and hopefully I can attend. We'll see what happens.

If all does goes well, I can bring what consoles I have (region free DC, Jp Saturn, region free PSX, US PS2, SNES, Genny, etc.), along with a few games if needed. I own most of the recent DC releases (Border Down, Ikaruga, Chaos Field, Psyvariar 2) as well as all the US releases, some Saturn's, PSX's, all US PS2 releases, and quite a few Genny's & SNES's.

Ok I guess I'll tip my hand now, I know you won't want to miss this. I do not play mame/emulated games, only PCB and console ports, and only on real arcade controls/monitor. I have two cabs modified to play DC and PS2 ports, and the other 2 are wired with dual jamma switchers. Off the top of my head, here is my list:
DDP
ESPRade
Ketsui
Battle Bakraid
Great Mahou Daisakusen
Dragon Blaze
DDPDOJ
ESPGaluda
XII Stag
Psyvariar Complete
Ikaruga
Psyvariar 2
Shikigami No Shiro 2
Trizeal
Gunbird 2
Chaos Field
Zero Gunner 2 *
Border Down *
GigaWing *
GigaWing 2 *
Mars Matrix *

* = Requires me to rotate the monitor hori on the dc enabled cab. Its a pain but do'able. Its not worth my time and effort to rotate the other cabs hori, so sorry no horizonal pcb support (this includes Gradius V on the ps2 enabled cab).

I also have a few classic williams cabs for some "real old school" manic shooters (Robotron, Stargate, Smash TV, Total Carnage).

People are welcome to bring other consoles (or games not listed above). I can try to rig them up on a huge 36" vga monitor via XRGB2 (bring scart cables if you got-em).

Yes, it would be great if people could bring food/snacks/beer/soda. As it gets closer to the date, I'll post more details on how many and whats needed.

Thanks!
