the discussion about a shmup dedicated magazine gave me an idea. Something to raise the general awareness about shmups and arcade games in general. something that all the young FPS players that brag about playing games that require "mad skillz" could see and understand.
I was thinking of a youtube channel where we could make shmup related video and send them to the managers of the account to upload them. Videos about shmup history (the gameone documentary is a great example), Video reviews (Rob's reviews come to mind in terms of sheer entertainement), Tutorials, HArdware stuff, Anything really as long as its related to shmups and entertaining.
the main goals of such a project would be to
1. To share our passion with other people(most importantly)...I like how the article about arcade culture on insomniac.ac** ends: "if I could only fly people to Tokyo and take them to an arcade in Akihabara even for an hour, I could make them see. I am convinced that if it was possible to do such a thing I could get practically anyone addicted to these games". Thats really what such a project is all about
2. Make the actual community bigger
This topic is more or less to see the overall interest of the members here about such a project. do you think its possible/feasible? Would you like to collaborate to such a thing?
Personally I think its a great alternative to a magazine/fanzine while being much more interactive and most of all there is nothing to lose (except a bit of free time).

It sounds very feasible to me, as long as enough people were up for it. I love the idea of building up more of a shmups comunity in the western world. I've been thinking about starting a thread for looking for contributions for an arranged STG CD, but I'm not sure if anyone would be up for it.
But yeah, OT, this is a good idea.
