Is this a good stick? (PCE)

Post by Ozymandiaz1260 »

I was thinking about getting this stick, do any of you guys know if it's decent or not? Personally, I don't really think it looks that great, but you never know I guess...

If you want to use a stick with PCE games, I'd recommend getting a PS2-to-PCE -converter. That way you have a much larger range of quality sticks available to you. I use one of those converters to play my PCE games with the PS2 Saturn-style pad and it works great.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.

For Ozymandiaz1260,

That NEC joystick is a stellar PCE joystick. The USA version of that same joystick is none other than the NEC Turbo Stick (albeit with a different style and layout style, of course). The joystick is of the silent non-clicky variety and is very responsive. I like the way how NEC implemented a variable auto-fire setup seperately for each button -- very useful for playing shmup titles to save "wear 'n' tear" on the ol' fingers (same thing applies to the USA NEC Turbo Stick joystick controller as well)...

The NEC Turbo Stick joystick controller made it's USA debut with $54.99 USD price tag back in 1989. Turbo Zone Direct (when they were still in business) sold many NEC Turbo Stick controllers at the "blow out" price of $19.99 USD back in the mid 1990's...

The legendary Hori Fighting Stick PC uses an all-metal joystick base and won't even budge at all during heated PCE gaming sessions. It uses authentic Sanwa arcade joystick for a world class arcade stick setup. Unfortunately, it uses the newer 8-pin DIN plug for use with the PCE Duo but a reverse Duo to PCE controller adapter can be used to rectify that situation easily. On the old Shmups forum, I had the tech gaming wizard, Matt Ross, make me such a reverse Duo to PCE controller adapter & it works like a charm. I do have one of those TTI (Turbo Technologies Incorporated) produced PCE to Duo controller adapters as well if I want to use such Turbo Grafx-16 controllers on the Turbo Duo console setup..... ^_~
