Where the hell did all these shumps titles come from?
i was on video.google.com at work and typed in DODONPACHI, after which i went to page 10 and found a link to Youtube clips of shumps titles ive never seen before. most of them are vertical scrolling and feature mushi style gameplay. dont have time to do direct link to each shump title youtube clip so heres the list. PATRIOT DARK, AIRRADE, OTOMEDIUS, LUNARIA, WRATH, GAISM, VULKANON, KAMIHA, EDENS AEGIS, SONIC IRONSTORM, DEMOLITION GUNNER, URBAN UPRISING, ZUGYA DX, BATTLE HAWK SF, RAY SCRAMBLE. clips on most of these titles were uploaded on youtube 12months ago. i guess we will never see any of these titles on western/europe shores or console for that matter.

I believe all of those are doujin games except for Otomedius, which is Konami's new shooter.
EDIT: You can look 'em up at Shoot the Core if you want!

Thanks dude, that was real helpful. still a damn shame some of these titles wont set foot on the european/western console market as most of them look really playable. they look like the kinda titles from hong kong.Zebra Airforce wrote:I believe all of those are doujin games except for Otomedius, which is Konami's new shooter.

Yeah, it's impressive how passionate some of these devs are about shooters. shoe is right, you should try a few out. I know that Demolition Gunner and Kamiha are both very popular titles.Mills wrote:Thanks dude, that was real helpful. still a damn shame some of these titles wont set foot on the european/western console market as most of them look really playable. they look like the kinda titles from hong kong.

Huh. How funky. That actually worked. It only plays in a window (full screen has some error), but it plays. Thanks for the tip P_HATP_HAT wrote:I played it.The Coop wrote:Speaking of shmups (nice segway, eh?), has anyone ever gotten D-Force 2 to run in XP? That link to Shoot the core reminded me of that game, and the errors I always get trying to play it.

Original enemy bullet attack waves but way confusing with all those colours and sprites, that just puts me off (i can fully appreciate way cave game like Mushi use the same colour for the enemy bullets). the music is ok. HELLSINKER, slighly lame cheesy cgi but playable never the less.Dandy J wrote:If you think those are cool try Hellsinker.

FYI: if you keep misspelling "Dodonpachi" in searchboxes you'll keep seeing more unrelated titles.Mills wrote:i was on video.google.com at work and typed in DODOPACHI, after which i went to page 10 and found a link to Youtube clips of shumps titles ive never seen before

Blue Wish Resurrection is excellent mills:

The makers are basically ripping off cave for every game they make, but they are very good quality.

shoot the core is great.. you can sort the games by ones that have received awards and filter out all the crap within a couple of seconds
i also highly recommend "flew fighter" (should show up in this link)
