When they did go wrong: Psikyo edition

Gunbird 2, for sure. See other post.

Which company is missing?

Sol Divide is the major aberration. Otherwise, their gameplay was constantly refined with each release. Personally, I prefer the Strikers games, but that's more of a thematic issue.

I never understood how someone would dislike gunbird 2. Few games have so many options when it comes to killing the baddies (regular shot, charge shot, close range shot, and bomb).

Sol-divide was a let down but I got to give some credit for trying something new, especially with Psikyo who so rarely strays from their formula. It is one of the only shmups to have a magic system, crazy looking digitized stop-motion looking mythological beasts... okay, I'll stop "defending" Sol-Divide before I bet banned!

Sol Divide was their misstep.

I wouldn't go as far as saying Sol-Divide was a let down, actually. It was a decent action/shmup/new genre of the mix, therefore, it's a decent game, but not a total let down.

There is nothing good in Sol Divide. If you do know something then say it now.

Yes. It'd be nice to turn the ghost landing reticle off though. Unless there is a way and I'm stupid.

Sol Divide is famous for it's liberal use of digitized fire effects in both the arcade PCB and PSX port iterations...

very true. it does deserve a second go. Most people try it and throw up in their mouth a little. I stuck with it for awhile and it is pretty rewarding...but my GAWD the difficulty gets soopa' cheap.

Zero Gunner 2 is shooting game excellence. So they didn't go wrong any time before that. Looks like they put out some hentai game called "G-Taste" for the PS2, shortly after that... I'd be willing to bet somewhere around there?

Theres only 2 little problems with Zero Gunner 2.

the music and

the gameplay...

The last "real" psikyo game is Dragon Blaze after that they tried to appeal to masses a little too hard imho..

A better question might be... where did they go right?

I kid, I kid... I enjoy Strikers 2945 II. That's about it though.
