Dezaemon Plus (PS1) shmup maker released on JP PSN

Post by Thunder Force »

Just an FYI to PS3 owners, as I haven't seen it posted yet - This week the 1996 PS1 shmup construction kit "Dezaemon Plus" has been released for digital download from the Japanese PSN store. The price is 600 yen.

For those outside of Japan, to purchase from the Japanese PSN Store you will need to create a JP PSN account and use a Japanese PSN Card

Yeah, I saw this too yesterday, by Athena.
I forgot to post it
This opens up a world of possibilities, because ps1, ps2 and ps3 save states are easily sharable between users!!!!!!
Stay tuned, something is bound to show up.
If last week somebody predicted this to be released as a downloadable ps1 game for the ps3 I would laugh very hard at him.
No way!
Yes way!

Please elaborate, as I'd love to download/share DDPDOJ and ESPGALUDA PS2 memory card replays.

Do you know which fileformat the PS3 is expecting ? One can download hundreds of PS1 and PS2 savegame files from gamefaqs.com and other sites, but there are a handful of different formats available.

Well, they don't work and thankfully it seems as though I am not the only one interested in this. So if anybody has any ps2 savegames for any ps2 games please upload them to gamefaqs. I have some saves of Japanese ps2 games, but I'm not very good at all, so I have little to offer the community! I searched and asked, but no other site besides gamefaqs has them. and on gamefaqs I don' t think I have even ever seen a ps2 gamesave from a ps3 console.

It's easier to use a PSX mouse controller when creating new shmup titles with Dezaemon Plus on a real PSX setup. It's quite a chore/tedious just using a PSX D-pad or Dual Shock controller to create a single game or compose some killer BGM tunes with the Music Editor portion of DP.

By picking up the handy guide paperback book called "How to Create A Shooter in 7 Days" for use with DP, it certainly does give you some examples to try out and experiment with at your leisure.

It will take a lot of time (and not to mention by trial & error) to compose/whip up some decent BGM tunes that surpasses some of the fine user created DP shmups offered in DP & Dezaemon Kids PSX releases though.

Some folks whom made their own DP doujin shmups, up to a full six months was spent on crafting a single game indeed.

Having bought a copy of DP myself back in April of 2000, I decided one day that I was going to create some cool DP BGM tunes. Kept on working on them for a period of over four years from 2000 to 2004. It was a long & slow process of learning the finer points of what could be done and not be done with the basic DP music editor program itself. Of course, all your custom BGM tunes are saved to a PSX memory card for posterity. So on two different PSX memory cards, the fruits of my labor yielded the best BGM tunes thus cranked out so far and would go equally well with a sample DP shmup stage quite easily (in terms of tempo, overall theme & with a beginning section that plays only once and a looping section that plays endlessly afterwards to set the pacing for a single shmup stage).

It's possible to create some funky 1970s loops if so desired. Athena Co. Ltd. would be shocked to learn that their DP music editor is capable of doing such '70s themed BGM beats & loops...it's doable if you're willing to invest some serious time into it.

---------------------------
Dezaemon Plus Factoid:

You can use your own custom BGM tune (that loops in the background) in place of the overall DP BGM theme on the main title screen if so desired. Plus you can change the background theme BGM at anytime via menu screen prompts. So there's no need to listen to the default boring & generic DP background BGMs indeed.
