Question for anyone who knows about Japanese plushy stuff.

Post by Davey »

Normally I don't collect stuff, but when I saw a Suketoudara [the fish from Puyo Puyo] plush on eBay awhile back, I had to go for it.

Being that I went with airmail, many moons had passed until it actually showed up in my mailbox. But it's here, and there's one thing I don't get about it.

There's a pouch in the back. I'm not sure why it's there. So, I'm asking anybody in the know to check out these pictures so I can get an answer:

Scan #1: Notice the thing that looks like a tissue sticking out of his back. Also, didn't know Suketoudara practiced Judaism. :P
Scan #2: Not terribly interesting, but I can't read it, and maybe it blatantly states what it is.
Photo: May look dirty depending on how perverted your imagination is. On that note, this pic is safe for work.

Any ideas?

I won a Digimon similar to this, you turn it inside out to change it into a different creature. Either that or it's a very elaborate tea cosy.

Skimming, it says something about Pocket Tissue in Scan 1. Scan 2 just says Super Puyo Puyo 33.

I can't tell from Scan 3 which end is up, though at first I thought it may be a puppet [which you probably would've figured out easily if it was]. I assume it's for holding tissues, though, which seems strange.

Yeah, that's what I thought based on the pic, but that just seems weird.

And, the pouch is pretty shallow and the thing is all plush, so you couldn't fit much in there, and anything of significant weight will make it off-balance.

Great find! I have a Carbuncle plushie as well as a red Puyo coffee mug and a small gashapon of Arle with Carbuncle from the Sega Gals gashapon collection.

The first scan says that you can put pocket tissues in the sexy looking hole you took a picture of. These are the pocket tissues that marketers pass out near busy intersections, train stations, subway exits, etc. They advertise money lending companies, new stores, naughty stuff, etc. It's a neat advertising technique. You can even see tissues hanging out of Suketoudara's back, behind his fin.

The Japanese in the second scan is already translated: "toru toru item," whatever that means. It's the first in the series. I imagine it is probably a prize from a UFO catcher machine. ("Toru" means "take.") Down below it says "Super Puyo Puyo." Obviously released before Sega bought out the Puyo franchise and ditched all of the characters.

Thanks for the enlightenment, Greg. The whole concept still seems odd, though.

"Man, if I could just consolidate my bills and get out of debt... but where to start? Oh wait, let me check the pouch of tissues I got from the guy on the subway!"

Not that that's any better than refinancing your home based on the info from xxqrizfxyo8elk@clickdealnet.co.ru who spells "mortgage" like "M0r+gAgE"
