Post by dczx »

It took a the better part of the day, but I finally did it. I've unlocked 37/99 ships... and 2 more endings to go. :D

Which ship did you use?

I can only do this game with the over-powered ships.

Congrats!

If it isn't the level 5 boss it's usually the section just before the end of level six which nail me everytime. One day though....

Just an aside question if I may: why am I still missing Bydo nr's 49-56 in the lab ? I completed 3.5/4/5 several times but they just won't show.

I dont know quite what you mean... but in the extra forest stage, there was an enemy that took me a while to unlock info for. The massive snake you have to kill to unlock the data

you can kill yourself by running into it, and it will die also, adding it to the list.

Congratulations! I'm still having trouble getting past level 6. Not even at the boss yet, though I've made it a couple times. It's the rest of the level that gives me fits :(

At least on human mode...

Nice work. I've always been crap at the memorize-em-ups myself.

I used a lot of ships to beat different parts, but I think I finished it with the top end of the Gallop series.... the R11S I think?

I really like the R11 series with the cannons that fire at all the small targets on that level. A good red laser helps with those stupid circular accumulations.

That scares me! Actually, I'm reminded of R-Type, I could never get past the second to last level with the good old R9. I just gave up. Maybe I'll pick it up again one of these days.

It means to complete the game without using continues, i.e. - without getting a game over.

It's a general measure of skill around here, given that you can complete most shmups just by continuously using continues or "credit feeding".

Well I remember getting the snake, I think it's in my lab but there's more missing. I've got everything between nr's 01 and 70 (guess) but there's about 5 missing. Nobody else missing Bydo in the lab :D ?

Congrats!

Oddly enough, I beat F-A in human mode the first few tries through with the original R-9...and then I realized that was supposed to be the second-hardest end level and I haven't been able to replicate that win ever since. XP

Man, I love RTF but F-C gives me nightmares. I'm not sure if it's the length or that enemies seem to take even more damage to kill, but it's just infuriating going through the trouble of getting there only to die because your current weapon can't kill all of the guns at the beginning of the stage. >_<

Congrats on finishing. Not a lot of people like the pacing of RTF and just give up playing once they reach the boss of 5 or F-A.

LEO II

or

the pow armor with the needle force that does the force shot which is basically a spiral of needles, which is extremely deadly :D

Congrats dczx! :)

I just wanna say that the last level in R-Type Final is one of the best I've ever seen. From the music to the "liquid-like" backround, it's simply amazing.

Anyone else agree?

Yah, the people in the background were creepy too. Were the Bydo telling us that they are the children of humanity? gives me the creeps...

you dont really beat RTF unless you 1CC it with the the original R9, the other ships are either the same quality (a very few) so ridiculously overpowered that the game is a joke, or sucky beyond reason.
so yea, play it again on 1 credit with the R9.

Personally, I just haven't found this game very enjoyable to try and 1CC. I believe I did reach the start of F-A on a credit once, but normally I get to stage 6 or so and make a stupid mistake and then lose all my other lives immediately. The lack of extends is also fairly painful.

I actually find the game more enjoyable with the invincibility code. It streamlines the experience since you're not sent back to checkpoints, and allows the game to be played for score (checkpoints cannot be abused, and puts a better focus on absorbing with the force for points).
