Yes, I actually bought this game on Ebay, for $5.95, including shipping and handling-and it's complete in it's original long-box.
And...I really like it! Is it balls-hard? Yes, but what version of Viewpoint isn't?! IMO, it's no more "unfair" then any other version of Viewpoint.
And the graphics are nothing short of amazing for a PS1 shmup; honestly this game looks more like a high-res. PS2 or Dreamcast shmup.
The only thing that worries me is that the game disc and case smell like cigarette smoke, and I don't want this game to damge the PS2's laser.
Impressions of PS1 Viewpoint....

Here are some tips for VIEWPOINT (ps1)
Level skip
Pause the game and press Square, Circle, Triangle, Right, Left, Down, R1, L2, R2, R1 to skip to the FMV sequence for the end of the current level.
Invincibility
Pause the game and press Square(2), Circle(2), Triangle, X, Square, Up(2), Down(2), L1, R1, Select. Note: The game may not play correctly while this code is active.
View ending sequence
Pause the game and press Square, Circle, Triangle, Right, Left, Down, R1, L2, R2, R1.

Yeah, I would go with what it290 said about the Genesis version.
Thanks for those codes Space Harrier! I did print out a sheet of passwords from Gamefaqs for ever single level, and sub level in the game-I figure that's the best way to practice on this game.
I'd really like to get a Namco Arcade Stick at some point; for some reason, I think the control would be a LOT better with a joystick; although I do own a PS2 Mortal Kombat controller, which has a bigger D-Pad then the DualShock2. Cost like $10, too!

No it doesn't. In PS1 Viewpoint, pushing up moves the ship up in relation to the screen, not the game field, just like Ganelon said. The alternate control scheme has you push up-right to move forward. In the Neo-Geo version pushing up does indeed mean going forward. Like it should.dave4shmups wrote:No, it controls pretty much the same as every other version of Viewpoint.
No matter how good a game is, somebody will always hate it. No matter how bad a game is, somebody will always love it.
