If I were to hook up a Supergun to a TV then tried to play a vertical-oriented game (Contra, most vertical shmups) would I need to tate the TV? Or is there some option to have the games play in yoko?

As a rule, you'd need to turn the TV. It's possible that some games have a DIP switch or something, but I've never heard of any.
