Why no replays or Superplays of Gigawing 1??....

Post by dave4shmups »

Seriously, there are plenty around the net of Gigawing 2, and that's great, but I have yet to see ANY of the first Gigawing. It's not like the first Gigawing is unpopular, either. :?

Has to be some on MARP.

Just google for MARP it'll be the first result, don't have the link handy...

Then search there for the short name, which will be the rom name, do that but without adding the obvious .zip at the end. Right click on the rom in mame32 and click 'properties,' the romname will be listed in quotes. Or just check your roms folder.

Then there should be a few replays, find one with working links to both 'getmame' and the other file that should be above that, which is the inp.

Then extract both, get the mame you got set up with roms directory set etc., then go to 'playback input file' under file menu. If it's not a mame32 variant you'll have to use emuloader or something, typically I just download another replay because I'm lame and have broadband :) .

Then enjoy...

edit: the input file will be the other thing you downloaded besides the mame version, should end in .inp.

There's a "how to play" thing in the DC version. Try that.

thanks guys, but MARP never works for me, I always screw up at least one part of the process along the way.

I was just wondering if there are any replays of Cotton 1 on any replay site; excluding MARP.

I know I'd like a replay scoring over 200t on GigaWing, and I know I won't be able to get that much myself too. :D

If I wanted to invest the time, I could easily make a super-high-scoring, 1-life replay. It wouldn't be legit, but it would be fun to watch.

I'm curious myself about how some players get one of those records. The highest MARP I'm aware of is 84T. This player milks bosses for medals.

How the hell do you get a 49,999,999 multiplier? :? I can come close to 20M by the final stages of the game. There has to be a way even with Raijin, since the WR with that one is 252T.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

I'm not too sure about scores that high either, I would guess you have to reflect lots of bullets into the enemies which don't shoot many bullets, before reflecting again to the right enemy. I'm only getting around 10-20m here. :(

Once again, there was one on JigsawMan's FTP; a 259 chou / x49999999 play with Widerstand.

Guess I'll try uploading it to yousendit...

I think if I had my best game so far I'd have around 20 million by the end of stage 4, and I've got plenty of missed opportunities or flawed technique. Level 5 and 6 should be worth a lot, but I'm not sure how much. But, once they do max the multiplier they no longer have to think of milking bosses or collecting medals (unlike GW2), so they can probably destroy all enemies more easily and get faster clears on the bosses. Those last few boss break bonuses should be huge. I don't think I was playing that well and I got 35 trillion from the 5/6 boss breaks. I think my multiplier was only around 23-25 million, so more than double that.
