CRT and swivel baby!

Post by Tigershark »

Or should that be rotate?

What's the best "old" tv for playing in tate mode? I have an old Sony Flat square screen circ. 1995 with one scart port but when I rotate it in TATE the top right and bottom left corners lose their colour integrity.

Been playing IBARA in YOKO which is shite so need TATE and I'm fussy about screen imperfections.

What's your TV of choice.

Also:

I'd like to get a better system sorted of just laying my TV on its side everytime I play in TATE mode. Are there commercially available rotating mechanisms I can buy? If so, linkage?

TS.

I've got an old sony trinitron TV here too for my shmupping action on the PS2. If you're gonna tate it, try this: unplug it beforehand, leave it unplugged for 5-10 min, tate it, leave for another 5 min, then plug in. Since i've been doing it like this there have been no discolorations.

I don't think there's any commercially made tating mechanism, but a few arcade cabs come with easily tatable monitors.

Buy a degaussing wand off eBay. They'll cost you around $20, and fix all the colour/magnetism issues with rotating TVs.

Buy a monitor. Someone on ebay was selling hantarex monitors on there this week for £10 each at 28" and they will TATE fine.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.
