I only know there is a non official VHS by NAL (or NAI?) playing DoDonPachi. It was with a Gamest magazine.

Edit : here is it : http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1113/700 ... c1.jpg?v=0

I have posters, but no art guide books.

I think the poster for Last Resort (SNK) was my favorite art...a friend that was an arcade owner gave me several copies of posters related to Last Resort and Metal Slug (for the cabs). They are fantastic.

Here are a few more Japanese guide books that I have:

RayCrisis
Gradius (Famicom)
Gradius Portable (Konami Multi Media)
Radiant Silvergun (Officlal Sega Saturn Magazine guide)

I know there are actually a few different RS books ('Be Praying', etc), but I only have the official Sega Saturn Magazine guide. I think some of the others may possibly be doujins (???) but I'm sure someone here will confirm...

I've also seen a Shikigami No Shiro II art book that has a DVD inside the cover.

ESPGaluda (artbook--doujin)
Ibara/Mushi (artbook--doujin) Ningen & Shakkuru...very similar books.

Even though the above are Doujin, the art is original/official sketches.

There's an ESPRade one I've seen on YJ once. Similar deal. Doujin, but it's Junya Inoue's sketches. Even zak got outbid on it.

Psikyo Collected Works Volume 1 features art from Gunbird, Strikers 1945, Strikers 1945 Part II, Sengoku Ace, Sengoku Blade and Zero Gunner.

*edit*
The title of the book is actually: Psikyo Illustrations Psi (Gamest Mook Vol 113).

Skull Hornets - my most sought after game art book. It's a Batsugun comic that Junya Inoue (the Joker himself) put out in a series of game magazines and later released as a compiled work. If anybody has this, let me know!

More of an artbook than a comic, right? Judging from the pictures I've seen anyway - as I haven't been able to find a copy

scanning and hosting just the list as it stands right now would be a monumental task.

Yea, that´s correct. But many of the motives coming from the other comics/art novels so it´s little hard/diffuse to decide what to call it :). But more artbook than comic. Beautiful and my favourite (and as I promise you once, I will tell you if I see it on YJ again - sooner or later I guess it will show up :). Here are a scan and two pics:

Zanac, Guardian Legend, and 1942 for Famicom all have offical guides
and I've also seen a Gunhed PC-Engine guide, but the seller wanted $60.

unfortunately, after packing away my guides a few years ago, I can't find the Zanac guide anymore

edit: just remembered I've also got Gradius Gaiden Official Guide, and Galaga(Famicom) Offical Guide.
There are also official guides for PCE R-Type (yes, there are two books).

And I can't remember right now if it was MagaFan or Beep!, but one of those magazines frequently included strategy special supplements that were like mini magazines and usually split in two parts over two issues. Thunder Force IV is the only one I think I have.

There is also another Keio Yugekitai guide besides the one pictured in GaijinPunch's link.

also Super Aleste comic.

and there are two thick guides for Namco Museum Vol.4, a Perfect Guide, and an Official Guide, so there is a full run-down of Ordyne in both (and Assault).

and... there is an Official Guide for Capcom Generation series that is more comprehensive than the thin pamphlet included with Capcom Retro Collection 1.
I'll also add Capcom Retro Collection 4 for Gunsmoke, though I guess that isn't considered a shooter around here.

to summarize:
Zanac Official Guide (FC)
Guardic Gaiden Official Guide (FC)
Galaga Official Guide (FC)
1942 Official Guide (FC)
Gunhed Official Guide (PCE)
R-Type 1 + 2 Official Guides (PCE)
Thunder Force IV strategy supplement (jp MegaFan magazine [?])
Silpheed Guide (Mega CD)
Super Aleste official comic
Keio Yuugekitai (two different books)
Capcom Generation Series Official Guide [1942/43 series] (Saturn / PSX)
Namco Museum Vol.4 Perfect Guide [Ordyne]
Namco Museum Vol.4 Official Guide [Ordyne]
Gradius Gaiden

and a couple that are a stretch (relevant for their last levels only):
Kid Icarus Offical Guide
Magic Knight Rayearth Official Guide

Yep, the very same work. Though it isn't colored, but it does completely flesh out the storyline. I have a good bit of it scanned and will try to post it sometime soon.

another couple guides I remember seeing are an official guide for G-Darius, and also a suplemental official book for Internal Section. I think it is called "True Colors of Internal Section" (or something like that) and features developer interviews and their selections of choice music to be used with the game.
