there is actually a review of this game on our very own xenocidefiles here
indeed seems to be a great game. i cannot wait until i can afford my msx so i can play it for myself.
currently i am looking to get a Sony MSX2+ with the cartridge port and disk drive built in. only problem is, only place i've seen them is Yahoo Japan and Rinkya would charge about $25 on top of the actual price and shipping.

keep in mind that at the picture in the auction the are litterally several MSX2 models stacked upon each other. The one for sale is the one with the (new/replaced) white diskdrives. Great seller. Bought quite some stuff from him! He's a real MSX freak and member of still active user groups.
@ SPACE HARRIER: Space Manbow is actually one of the top 10 shmups ever conceived (imho) and cerainly not unknown among the connaisseurs...
Buying back an MSX 2 can be done quite cheap, but trying to find a complete and mint Space Manbow for a decent price (like say 100 Euro) is another thing (saw one go once for less and still don't understand why I didn't bid on it) .
I had a cart only copy and sold it for 55 Euro!!!!!! Only after finally getting myself a complete copy of course .
Space Manbow is amazing. It's one of the finest shmups ever made for sure.
Though it's true many people never gave the game proper time (Or never played it at all). I still think that if the game was more played, it would easily make it in the annual top 25 (Every year the game gets more and more votes, hehe )
I could make a list of good MSX shmups that most people never heard about.
LOL, yeah, Space Manbow is already recognized for being a great shooter and among the best on the MSX2. Not too much obscurity there I'm afraid; just gotta check out the lesser known systems/computers.

i just meant that all the models i have seen (pretty much) are like a large keyboard with the disk drive on the side and cart slot(s) on the top.

I've just tried It The scrolling seems to put me off abit, but overall It's classic Konami (I'll invest more time in this title)
Space Manbow actually is VERY smooth. It was an amazing feat (From many) from Konami. The game scrolls horizontally, and diagonally in some spots, smoother than any other MSX game.
But I've seen the game running incredinly choppy in some emulators.

Some levels look like they were ripped from Gradius. While some other levels & Bosses look like Thunder Force III. I guess TechnoSoft took some from this.
BlueMSX has great features and compatibility but I think you need at the very least a P3-600 (which I guess is a lot as far as MSX emus go). I used BlueMSX to run demos on my Athlon though and it worked great after I figured out how to create a functional machine in the editor.
