w00t, finally found Sol Divide
w00t, finally found Sol Divide
Took me awhile, but I finally found one copy of it at EB Games for $4 complete. Noice.
This game looks like everything that Psikyo isn't..gah, ugly as hell to boot. I'm going to play it right now and just assume the translated story is correct.

There was a story to the US version? I just remember the intros and conversations had been entirely cut and the ending was entirely untranslated. Plus, you'll never beat original mode on the US version unless you're a dumbass mashocist like myself.LoneSage wrote:I'm going to play it right now and just assume the translated story is correct.

Well, in the manual.Ganelon wrote: There was a story to the US version? I just remember the intros and conversations had been entirely cut and the ending was entirely untranslated.
Anyways, wow, this game sucks more than I thought it would

What's the dif between Arcade and Original mode?
oh, if you have a Japanese, modded, or import player for PS2, you could try to get the two pack with another game. I did hear that the extra stuff is just blocked off and may be unlockable with a gameshark in the US version of the PSX Sol divide, though. If someone knows the code, please shoot. I personally don't recommend getting the import PSX version. It may have the extras (which can supposedly be accessed with a gameshark in the US version), but it's still the same game. At least with Psyiko Collection 3, you get Dragon Blaze with it.Fighter17 wrote:XS Games did that port, it sucks. Get the import version.
C'mon, who would pay $30 for such a crappy game? But Psikyo Vol. 3 might not have original mode.
BTW, original mode was the console addition where you fight stage after stage, leveling up, choosing when you descend, collecting items, and fighting bosses (including a new uninspiring final boss). That FAQ at Gamefaqs probably has more info. It's really long (took me about 4 hours I think) so there was a save feature in the import versions. The US version doesn't have any saving so good luck!
You can't wait to see the reward you get for winning...

i'll say it for the benefit of anyone who's not yet had the chance to play this poor confused bastard son of a shoot-em-up...
DO. NOT. BUY. THIS. GAME.
Golden Axe is fine in its place, but melded with this crazy half-brother of flight it all just seems rather unnatural. The weapons are un-imaginative, the story(i've got the jap version) un-intelligable and at least one of the main characters waaaay too fat to be flying around in the sky un-assisted. The graphics are decent though...

"What the hell kind of a two-bit operation are they running out of this treehouse, Cooper? I have seen some slip-shod, backwater burgs, but this place takes the cake."

I don't entirely disagree and i (grudginglydave4shmups wrote:![]()
IMO, Sol Divide is more like Magic Sword, or some other oldschool Capcom hack-and-slash then Golden Axe.

I actually feel Golden Axe is an appropriate comparison considering how much you do have to hack to kill most enemies.
Anyway, on my previous note, Kiken has stated that original mode is indeed NOT in the PS2 collection (since it wasn't in the arcades either) so some folks might want to keep their 32-bit versions.
