I'm waiting until they release a demo before I get too excited. No telling how well a game like that will run on my PC. It doesn't look much more impressive than some games that run fine on my rig, but there's always the possibility of inept programming.

It's from the devs of System Shock which was top notch, so I guess it will be pretty cool, too.

Im taking the easy route and playing in on 'teh sex box". I have a watercooled 4400 computer, but I find myself playing less and less on it, and more in front of my tv. I'm just getting sick of having to spend soooo much just to play a game- with all of these consoles and a fat backlog of games for them, by the time i get to games like this on the computer, it'll be a year or two from now.

Lol......with that being said...you can bet your ass I'm upgrading for Crysis-even if I do it a few months after it comes out :)

I heard there's some bizarro Ayn Rand theme going on in this game, what's the deal with that?

I've pre-ordered it, but I really don't think my pc will have a hope in hell of running it. Same goes for Unreal Tournament 3. The previews look so amazing though, and my love for System Shock/Thief/Looking Glass is so great, that I want to own this even if I can't play it for a few years.

I am also pretty excited for this one. Will definitely pick it up on the 360 when its released. :)

Anyone care to give a quick rundown on System Shock. Maybe I should give it a go before its sequel(?) is released.

System Shock is an adventure game played on first person view where you shoot sometimes. That why some people sold it as a "First Person Shooter", though the emphasis is not much on shooting.. actually, most of the time is wiser to avoid conflict, as you could get killed very quickly.

It's an awesome game. The plot is cliche, but the atmosphere is awesome. Not many games made me feel tense and afraid like this one, you never know what may come in the next corner.

I'd recommend you not because you are going to get Bioshock, but because it's an utterly brilliant game. But AFAIK, it's very troublesome to run it on Windows XP.

I played the sequel, System Shock 2, briefly. This one seems more closer to the FPS genre though...

I'm going to pre order a few weeks before the release. I've never played the System Shock games, but the look and atmosphere of Bioshock seems pretty awesome so far.

Is it just me, or does BioShock look way too dark, like Doom 3 minus the flashlight dark. I haven't played it yet so the darkness might not be a factor, but from the gameplay videos I've seen every it looks like its going to be a struggle just to see what's on the screen. Hopefully jacking up the brightness on my TV will fix it.

I LOVED System Shock 2, so I'm looking forward to BioShock. I am definitely digging the retro-future 1940's look.

not enough to start a new thread, and i figured this was still applicable given the PS3 launching its own port of the game.

witness the bid daddy textures in the demo for bioshock. this being said, they are preparing various patches to fix the issues in the early(ish) days of release.

but this is just hilarious. :D

2K Games, 3 weeks ago wrote:The texture in the PS3 demo of the downed Big Daddy does not match our level of quality either. This slipped by. We admit it. However, I want to assure you that this is an exception, and not a rule, and while I regret this oversight, we put a lot of love into making this game look amazing for the PS3 and I’m sure that when you play the rest of the demo you will agree that the textures are not all like this one instance.

As for the other issues and concerns, we are currently diligently working to replicate any bugs, and will report back to you with what we find.

Very nasty. The PS2 would laugh at that screen shot. TG they'll be patching that.

BioShock is a great game- I've finished it lately on 360 with the Little Sister Savior achievement. You don't need to save them all to get it- just don't Harvest any. Later on, it gets fun to use the wrench to just clonk enemies to death after you get the Bloodlust tonic. So many different ways to kill the enemies too- and sometimes you don't have to do the killing yourself. A bit later I loaded up a save to kill Sander Cohen for Irony. When you're fighting him, he'll teleport about and spam fireballs while shouting "I'm Sander FUCKING Cohen!"

I've heard of players taking the Telekinesis Challenge, where you quit using all other weapons/plasmids once Telekinesis is acquired. TK rocks- especially when you light a corpse on fire before hurling it at an enemy.

It never looks too dark. The lighting is actually some of the best. If you want too dark, try Quake 4 (Blah).

One local independent VG seller near me happened to have it for $25 in new condition as part of some half-off special. For that price, I just couldn't pass it up.

True on the poly count. That said, this pixelated, Doom-effect texture is jarring on such high poly models. At least the lighting is still on par.

System Shock 2 is one of the best PC games ever.

Bioshock is decent... at least unusual. Cool art design.

the frame rate is not as solid as the 360 version either.... it's not way worse but it's there. The aliasing is not as crisp either. I actually traded my 360 version in for the PS3 version and I'm not so happy about that. saved my receipt as least, deff want my 360 version back.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?
