The latest released/ announced shmups

Post by Shatterhand »

I've been out of the shmups scene for the last .. 7 or 8 months.

And I feel like Cave released/announced a DOZEN of games on that period. I am completely lost.

Acutally, I think I got lost after the Pink Sweets. What was released after that from them?

And if anyone minds to tell me the latest shmups released for console systems... preferably PS2 :)

Goddamn Cave , they've been extremely active, but their last home port was Mushihime-sama , right? :)

This will require a bit of effort on your part :)
The information comes from notes for a project of mine which I post in bits and pieces

First, my recent response to captain ahar here.
Since ahar is in America, I skipped PAL releases in the list, sorry.

arcade side:
2006-10-27: Mushihime-sama Futari (Cave)
2006-11-15: Karous (Milestone)
2007-04-26: Muchi-Muchi Pork (Cave)

upcoming:
Radio Allergy for US GC was cancelled
Nucleus HD (EU PS3 network) was scheduled for release a few days ago?
Raiden IV (AC, Moss) is officially out tomorrow
Super Stardust HD (EU PS3 network) expected around 2007-06-15
Fuujinroku (PC, next Touhou game from ZUN)
Shin Chuuka Taisen (Wii, Starfish)
New Triangle Service game for arcade
Otomedius (AC, Konami) is rumored for September or October
Söldner-X: Himmelsstürmer is announced by Play-Asia and that's all
Tenchi no Jyuusha (AC, Cave) is barely revealed, no dates yet

more like rumors amirite:
Last Hope NeoGeoCD version (NGdev)
Homura 2 (AC, Skonec)

Went through my notes for PAL titles and found only two during the time you were gone:
2006-10-05: Raiden III (PS2 EU)
2007-02-23: Capcom Classics Collection vol. 2 (PS2 EU) [this date was pre-release and so may be off]

Karous and Trigger Heart Exelica were also released for Dreamcast (March/April), as was the unlicensed shooter Last Hope (April).

Of those, Exelica is the best, imo.

I purposely skipped Broken Thunder. Besides it being a horribly sucking homebrew that was apparently made with the sole purpose of tricking unsuspecting people who expected a Thunder Force sequel into paying real money for it, it's not even a console game and Shatterhand asked about console releases. Now let's never talk about it again.

not likely but there is a decent chance that karous will make it to the wii, at least in japan.

Yes, you do. I don't know about availability in Brazil, but you can currently get a Dreamcast for ~30 USD on ebay - less than the price of one new game.

They aren't very common like Mega-Drives and Master Systems, but they are available, but unfortunately not that cheap... I think the average price of one (2nd hand, of course) is around 140-170 USD ...

Consoles are too damn expensive for us really.

I'd buy one for 30 USD like right now... but 150 USD is out of my budget at this moment...

Ouch, couldn't you buy one from a US-seller and have it sent to Rio? While shipping isn't cheap, surely that way you'd pay much less than 150 USD...

There's always the risk that the thing will stop at the borders police (don't know how to say it in english)... and they will NOT ask me to pay the import taxes, but actually to bribe them. It's completely by luck , import something and the cops may or may not intercept it. I know people who have imported from Play-Asia a lot of stuff and never had any trouble, and I know a guy who only imported once and had this kind of trouble with the police.

I haven't imported much in my whole life, but luckily I never had any problem, but I know a few people who had it. It's known that sending it as "a gift" lowers the chances, but it still happens sometimes.

Our police gotta be one of the most corrupt in the whole world.

And anyway, like you said... shipping would raise the price badly :)

The most safe to get one is to actually know someone who's coming from USA to Rio buy me one. You may still be stopped by police, but the chances are a lot smaller actually, and if the guy isn't bringing a lot of stuff for a lot of people, he will hardly have any trouble.
