English Progear - CPS2 sound issue

Hello everyone. I'm currently having a problem with a progear board. The music and sound effects sound very strange past the insert credit screen.

I have swapped the (01) sound rom with another English progear board, but it made no difference, the problem still remains.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a problem like this.

I also wanted to know what would happen if I took all the English roms and put them into a japanese progear?

Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Swapping all the program roms to a Japanese board will not work as the decryption key is unique on every region.

Try swapping all the masked roms, that's where "the sound is".

Also, would swapping the English masked roms with Japanese ones be ok?

Which part on the board are you referring to?

The 6 (2 + 4) masked roms to the top right/middle, the big ones.

Try swapping them, I have no idea if it would work but trying won't hurt. All I know is that the program roms have different encryption on different version.
