Thanks for the news. Should be interesting for Triangle Service fans (and/or Seibu fans) to finally be able to try out this rare title, and decide if this really is the rumored "missing link" between Raiden 1, and the later XII Stag & Trizeal.

I've got the PCB, it sure is that missing link you described. Sounds like this should go out in the next mame drop, but wonder if they will get he gamespeed/sound problem fixed. BTW: the sound quality does suck ass on the pcb.Thunder Force wrote:Thanks for the news. Kinda like the 2000 editions of Raiden FightersCIT wrote:Yeah, the PCB is a piece of crap, and will actually start melting if you run it too long.

i missed this post, but found it again when looking at the mame page. lol.
i think the game is challenging, the sound definately isn't something to brag about tho.
it's great they are getting this emulated finally, exposes it to alot more players.
hoorah. lets hope it gets playable (minus slowdown, etc) in short time.

sorry for bumping old topic.
i need more info for this game. played on mame up to stage 6, and throughout the game, it feels slow, many sections/areas doesnt have enemies.
music and sounds quality are awful, its like recorded with 11khz sampling rate.
another thing i noticed is that the demonstration for this game seems off track (drunken player, weird ship movement), is that intentional or its really offtrack?
so, PCB owners (aka. Dave_K), can you tell me is pcb version of this game behave like above?

It is to us a sufficient body in which, fairies and it is packed and can group of play.
Is there any PCB footage? On YouTube (yeah, the most competent source of arcade gaming video, I know) only a badly emulated stage 1 vid comes up.

Can you elaborate? Is that Triangle Service guy a former Seibu member? All I know is that the graphics I´ve seen from G-Stream so far remind me a lot of XII Stag. (It´s a shame they/he went from very fine sprites to very bland polygons.) Not that I liked XII Stag, but this game here looks very neat, judging from a handful of screenshots anyways.Thunder Force wrote:Thanks for the news. I gave it a run and I have enjoyed it so far. The scoring gimmick seems largely based on waiting for enemies that spew alot and throwing a charge shot into the shots to rack up jewels. I don't know what the rules are for making the jewels ascend in point value because sometimes the 1k ones seem to show up out of the blue.
Do they go higher than 1k? Runs at full speed on my machine. I turned off my speakers.

SiKrAiKeN: While I don't think everyone here -is- a Ninja Turtle, I DO believe everyone here has the potential to be a Ninja Turtle. No doubt.
I too gave it a go and I really like it. I think the scoring system makes for some sick strategies,
only boring thing I see about it is that you have to pretty much pick up only the blue power ups
if you want to have perfect control of medal chaining, with almost every enemy dropping medals and so...
Good luck on not missing any medal with a powered up wide-shot.
There's also a bit of 'Raizing-style' tolerance involved, i.e. if there's more than one big medal on screen, you are free to miss a few and pick up the last.

Looks like it's simple medal chaining; pick up medals to raise their value/don't miss bigger medals to keep the value.landshark wrote: I don't know what the rules are for making the jewels ascend in point value because sometimes the 1k ones seem to show up out of the blue.

Do we have any more info on possible Triangle Service links with this game? All I know is that the guy who did the music for G-Stream also did XII Stag and Trizeal.
And just so I have something to add that might make this bump worthwhile. The emulation seems to be a bit better now, improved speed but still bad sound.

How slow is it? Is it like RSG in .129 slow? [think half of full speed]
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

The (not completely verified) story goes, that Triangle Service resume includes involvement on the original Raiden (not Raiden II, iirc) at Seibu Kaihatsu. During the period between working for Seibu and founding TS, staff temporarily paid the bills by helping Oriental Soft development of G-Stream. (Some of these details I recall from past interviews or website postings from TS which were linked on the previous shmups forum. Anyone with more info/clarifications, feel free to post them again.)FIL wrote:Do we have any more info on possible Triangle Service links with this game? Actually one of these PCB just sold on YAJ yesterday.

I need to get back into this game, as there is some really strange Pink Sweets style rank (re: insane) & point strategies to the game if you use autofire.

And would that be using a fixed rate of autofire or an adjustable rate of autofire on a G-Stream PCB?Dave_K. wrote:Actually one of these PCB just sold on YAJ yesterday.

Either, as long as you are destroying ships faster, it will send out more complicated enemy groupings, which have the potential for larger medal fountain milking via the shield. Unfortunately, that also means more power-ups you need to avoid (like in Pink Sweets) if you want to hold the medal chain. Lots of unknowns still in this game for optimal milking and rank management strategies. I haven't seen any superplays for it yet.PC Engine Fan X! wrote:And would that be using a fixed rate of autofire or an adjustable rate of autofire on a G-Stream PCB?

Perhaps you could be first one do a superplay on a G-Stream PCB, Dave K. I'd gladly get it transfered to a DVD disc for posterity. Wouldn't that be cool? ^_~Dave_K. wrote:Either, as long as you are destroying ships faster, it will send out more complicated enemy groupings, which have the potential for larger medal fountain milking via the shield.
